I rolled over on the sofa and jawned. The other Avengers were on a mission and I was chosen to stay home. Well, of course I was, I was the new one in training. Even Loki was part of the team for longer, and he was very late to join. On top of it, I had no magic powers ... and a crush on Loki.
I stared at the ceiling and imagined what he was doing right now. Jumping off buildings? Throwing his magic around? Wearing his helmet and stabbing monsters with his daggers?
Something in my tummy tugged and I felt how I missed him. But before I was able to work myself up on that, a noise interrupted the silence.
I sat up as straight as a post. It came from the door to the living room.
Were the others already home?
My intuition told me they weren't. The something on the door wasn't friendly.
If it isn't friendly, I have to defend the tower.
I bit my lip. I was not bad at fighting, but I wasn't good enough to stop a full grown man either. That was still up to Natasha.
What would Loki do?
I stood up and tried to make my voice sound as demanding as possible. "Who are you and what do you want here?" I was surprised as I heard my voice cut through the air.
The rattling at the door stopped. The intruder seemed to think, then the door burst open.
A man as big as a wardrobe stood in the doorframe. His shoulders touched the top, and his muscular arms almost touched the sides. "Well, who are you?"
I was stunned. The second I saw him I knew I wasn't able to fight him. Judging by his clothing and the huge lock pick he was a burglar. A well prepared one too, because he was coming when everyone was gone. There was only one way left to solve this situation. Butterflies flew up in my stomach. The Loki way.
Would he be proud if I succeeded?
"I asked you something", the burglar snarled.
I smiled and stretched my arms out, the typical Loki pose. "I am ..." I thought for a moment. "I am (y/n) ... Laufeyson."
The burglar furrowed his brows. "Laufeyson. What a weird name."
I chuckled and began to wander around the room as if I had nothing to fear. "You didn't think of getting to know the last names of the people living in the house you wanted to break into, do you?" I tried to keep calm, what wasn't easy. I hid my hands behind my back because my fingers were shaking. "I will jog your memory. I am Loki's wife."
The burglars eyes became big. "Loki's wife?"
I smirked. In an evil way and not in a ridiculous way, I hoped. "Yes."
The man seemed to shrink a little, then he straightened his back and took a step forward. "I don't believe you. You are a simple attendant trying to fool me." He laughed as if he tried to reassure himself. "You have not a friction of his power."
I cold chill ran down my back. If that guy got me, it would be dangerous at least. I smirked and wandered around the room again to lighten the adrenaline that made energy flood my body. "It's not only his powers he shares with me. It's love, for lies and trickery, for keeping things on the edge between good and bad." For a moment I thought I heard something out of the kitchen, but it probably was some desperate deceit my brain was pulling on me. "He shares his magic powers with me, and I share his cruel side. So get out."
I stopped and realized I had my hands in a position where I could have used my powers if I had any. Which I knew I didn't.
The burglar stared at my hands, half scared and half curious.
"I said, get out!", I tried it again. "This is your last chance."
A hesitant smile sneaked over the burglars face. "You have no powers, right?"
I stared him down, but my facade was crumbling.
"You have no -"
But a flash of green appeared and magic danced around my hands. It illuminated the room in a bright green light, sending frightening shadows over the walls.
The burglar and I were both scared and surprised. He watched the magic and not my face (what was good because I lost control of my expression completely) and turned around to run. Just as he was about to make his way into the kitchen, he bumped into a tall, dark figure.
"Away from my wife", a rough voice purred in the most dangerous tone.
Loki stood in the doorframe, his daggers drawn. My heart jumped and I felt how all my tension went away. I was safe. "I said", he repeated, "away from her. Get lost, despicable creature!"
The burglar whined and ran past Loki. Loki grabbed him by the collar and whispered something into his ear. The burglars face went white as paper and he stumbled outside as soon as Loki let him go. I heard the door snapping shut.
Loki walked up to me and I saw the magic surrounding my hands float back to him to vanish in his palms. As soon as I went out of the frozen state I was in, I ran up to him and hugged him tightly.
"You are back!", I whispered while squeezing him, knowing full well he was a god and I could squeeze him as hard as I wanted.
I heard him chuckle and felt the vibrations in his chest. As soon as I let go of him and looked into his face, I was scared that I went too far.
But he just smirked. "(Y/n) Laufeyson? I am flattered."
My face turned scarlet red and heat spreaded through my body. I looked away but couldn't take a step back because he still had his arms loosely around me. I felt his glance resting on my face, it was very hard to look at him because he still smirked knowingly. I mean I love that expression on him, but it is hard to look into these mischievous eyes when having a crush on him.
"Well?"
"Well what?", I responded with a touch of defiance.
His smile grew wider.
"Stop enjoying yourself like that", I laughed and poked with a finger in his chest.
"But it is so much fun to see you fight with your own feelings of embarassment and nervousness and these little butterflies in your stomach." He glided with his fingertips over my belly.
I gasped as the butterflies grew much stronger at his touch. It was just ... I wanted to kiss the lips that formed this smug smile, bury my hands in his raven hair and look into these glimmering eyes for all eternity.
"Why are you back?", I asked softly.
"From the mission? Oh, the spiderboy had sensed something was wrong. I was a little suprised that he picked me to go back to you, but ..." His eyes sparkled. "Now I have a guess."
I looked to the ground. I had told Peter yesterday that I liked Loki, and it seemed that he was trying very hard to make everything turn out well.
"And I am also guessing you want to distract", Loki continued.
He got me there.
"Come on, do what you long to do", he murmured.
My eyes went big. Was that an invitation ...?
"What about you?", I asked. "Do what you want to do."
For a millisecond, his glance went down to my lips. Then, he pulled me to him by my waist, forged us together, while kissing me with a passion that caught me by complete surprise. My knees got weak as his lips moved with mine, I was glad he held me that close. I also threw myself on him, clinged to him. My insides felt like a firework, exploding in many different colours.
After an eternity we parted for taking a breath.
"That's what I wanted to do", Loki said.
"Never stop", I responded.
"Gladly", he smirked and kissed me again.
