Loki and I sat on the sofa in the Avengers Tower once again. The others were going shopping, but we were exhausted from the mission and had decided to stay home. We were enjoying the silence a lot and we both read our books, engrossed in the words.
After a while, I started to yawn.
Loki threw me a look and smirked. "Tired?"
"Mh, yes, a little", I mumbled and surpressed another yawn.
He smiled and looked back into his book. "You know, the person I am reading about is also very tired. It is described how heavy their eyelids are, and how much they just want to lay down, breathing slowly in and out, relaxing ..."
"Loki!", I laughed and elbowed him.
He chuckled. "Just saying."
We read quietly for a couple of minutes. Then I yawned again.
"Featherlight pillows", Loki murmured with sparkling eyes, "sinking into sleep like into the silence of the dark, dark night, not even the moon shining ..."
"Loki!", I protested. "That is very poetic, but it's also only four p.m.. I want to use todays day!"
"But what about chaos?", Loki asked and brushed a strand of hair out of my face. The sudden touch of his fingertips made my neck hair rise and I tried not to shudder. "You could screw the rules. The plans. Social norms are an illusion, (y/n). Sleep at any time you want. Be a rebel. Close your eyes."
I stared at him and giggled. "That was the strangest motivation speech I ever heard. And no, I wont give in to your chaotic plans."
Loki pouted.
"That doesn't work with me", I said. "Maybe with Thor, but not with me."
Loki sighed and started to read again. "It doesn't work with him either since roughly 1000 years. I made him eat a bucket of sand with that look when we were kids and now he doesn't trust me anymore."
I laughed. "Oh, I wish I could have seen that."
"It was hilarious", confirmed Loki. "I will tell you when I manage to convince him again."
"That would be great, thank you." I turned my attention back to my book.
A few minutes later I felt my wakefulness leave me again. My eyelids fluttered and I tried focus on the story.
"Sweet, fluffy dreams", whispered Loki next to me with a grin. "Pulling you in like a calming hug, the sleep falling onto you like soft snow, like a blanket covering -"
I fell asleep and my head sank on his shoulder.
Loki froze and stopped talking. He eyed me. "(Y/n)", he murmured. "I didn't mean to- hey, you can't ..." He gave up when he realized I really was asleep. Hesitantly, he raised his hand and brushed my hair out of my face again. "So fragile", he mumbled. "And so b-"
I mumbled something in my sleep and wrapped my arms around him tightly.
Loki's eyes widened and a pink colour lightened his cheeks. He looked down at me and carefully put his book on the table. "(Y/n)", he said a little louder this time. "(Y/n), you should ..."
Loki tried to move me, to shove me to the other end of the sofa, but I held him tightly. He tried to wind out of my grasp and wriggled so much that he lied under me after a minute of fruitless tries.
Loki sighed. "Well this didn't go exactly as planned."
His glance traced to the book on the table and back to me. Slowly he stretched his arm out and got the book by the corner. With a little struggle, he lifted it up, but as he wanted to read, his fingers lost the grip and his book fell on my head.
"Damn", he cursed.
My eyes fluttered open sleepily. I realized my position and looked up to Loki who was half flustered and half embarassed.
"Look", he said, "I didn't want to do all this, it just kind of happened-" The pink on his cheeks intensified.
I slowly understood what was happening and grinned. After his teasing I felt like teasing him back. "Oh, of course", I said sarcastically. "You purposely lulled me into sleep and now you just randomly cuddle with me."
Loki shook his head and blushed now scarlet red. "No, no I didn't, no-"
"Hey", I chuckled and buried my head in his chest. "I know, I know. It was a joke. A joke! You tease me all the time so I wanted to give it back. I get really active in my sleep, I know that. Calm down."
Loki breathed out and closed his eyes. "Sometimes I can't stand you."
I giggled. "Sometimes I can't stand you."
We smiled and I instinctively brushed a strand of his hair behind his ear like he did to me before. I felt a light shudder going down his body.
"Do you like me, Loki?", I whispered.
Loki looked at me. "It's really not fair. I should be the dominant person in this situation."
I snickered. "Well, maybe you are a switch."
Loki smirked. "I should punish you for that."
I smirked back. "You wont." And with that, I closed the distance between us with a kiss.
_This oneshot felt strangely out of place, but it was good too, I think. At least I am satisfied with it. That didn't happen for a few of my last ones :)
Have a good weekend everybody!
