Shy and angry

"Aaaand you are back in prison, Loki!", Thor called and placed Loki's silver playing piece in the edge square of the Monopoly board.

The other Avengers in the Towers living room laughed.

Thor grinned and announced: "Just like in the old times at Asgard!"

"Good one!", Tony said and rubbed his hands together, he was always winning in games with any kind of currency.

Loki looked at his little playing piece in the prison field and scowled at Thor.

Thor visibly enjoyed being the center of attention. "Don't frown so much brother, one day it may be stuck on your face." He threw a piece of popcorn into his mouth and put an arm around my shoulders. "Bruce, you are next!"

I watched Loki from the corner of my eyes as Bruce made his next move. Normally, he liked playing Monopoly with us, he was almost as good as Tony at it. But today he seemed a bit sour, and I really didn't know why. The only thing we did different was maybe the seating around the table. As Tony had claimed the place next to Loki, I had to sit with Thor on the couch. When I examined Loki's face a little more, I noticed he looked a little bit more pale than usual ... or I was just imagining it. I really was looking at Loki too much, given that he was giving me a bunch of butterflies in my belly whenever his green eyes darted into mine.

And just in this moment, his glance switched to me. My stomach did this plummeting feeling and I looked away, hoping desperatly I didn't blush. We really got along great, but I was never sure if he would even like me more than a friend. Loki was a 1000 year old god after all, who knows what he likes. But exactly because we got along really well, I didn't realize how hard I fell for him at first. Just when it was too late.

"Now what, (y/n), are you going to play?", Natasha's voice interrupted my inner monologue.

I blinked. "Of course", I said. My glance met Loki's and we exchanged a small smile. Like he was saying: What, zoning out again? Really, that's not like you at all. In his sarcastic voice, obviously.

"Play, (y/n)!", Thor said and clapped on my back.

"Okay, okay, I was on it already!" I laughed and made my move, but I also noticed that Loki was making his sour face again.

The game went by and I looked for opportunities to ask Loki what was wrong without drawing too much attention to him. But he was too occupied with either the game or with staring angrily at Thor. What happened between the two? I didn't understand it at all.

When we finished (Tony won), I followed Natasha to the kitchen to bring away the empty bowls with the sweets. The rest of the team stayed behind to put the game back in the box, and they soon dissipated to do their own personal stuff for the afternoon. Natasha headed for the Gym and I was about to go to my room as I heard Loki argue with Thor in the hallway.

"Now get over here", Loki hissed.

"What's wrong?", Thor asked in confusion. So he did know exactly as much as I did.

"You know exactly what's wrong!" Wow, Loki sounded really pissed off. I stood very still in the kitchen and continued to listen.

"No, really brother, what are you talking about?"

"Her! (Y/n)! You know how much I -" Loki made a small pause and turned more quiet, but I could still understand him. "How much I like her, and you are doing what? Putting your arm around her? Clapping her on her back? Why don't you just kiss her already?!"

Thor stayed quiet for a moment and I could really see his dumbfounded face in front of my inner eye. "Brother ... I really ... uhm, you are getting something wrong here ..."

"What am I getting wrong, explain it then!", Loki snapped. "You know how happy she makes me, do you want to take her away from me?"

That seemed to wake Thor up. "Listen, Loki, I would never take away your potential girlfriend. That was entirely ... not flirtatious! I would have done the same if Natasha or Bruce sat next to me. I mean that! You have to believe me!"

There was another second of silence.

"Okay then", Loki said, his tone a bit more mild than before. "Good that we, uhm, cleared that up."

"Yes", Thor responded, and I heard how friendly he sounded. Then there was a noise that sounded like they were wrestling.

"No! Stop hugging me Thor! It's fine, it's fine, I am really happy about that being cleared up too. Now let me go!"

Moments later I heard them walk away, Loki passing the kitchen door. I pressed myself against the wall next to it, waiting for his steps to depart and I tried to digest this news.

Loki liked me. He liked me! I had my hands over my mouth, almost jumping around from all the butterflies in my belly. Oh my gods. This was the best day of my life. The whole time he was just jealous!
But what to do now? How to fix this? I had an idea. Yes, that would be good.

I opened the door to Loki's room after knocking and saw him reading on his sofa with a cup of tea. I grinned and hopped over to him, he smiled as I plopped down next to him.

"Watch out, don't spill my tea."

The tea is already spilled, I thought. Metaphorically. And how Loki sat here, acting like always. Again, I couldn't believe my luck.

I snuggled up to him and put on a worried expression. "I heard you and Thor arguing from my room ...", I started.

Loki's smile vanished quicker than beers around Thor.

"... and I wanted to ask you what you were arguing about and if you are okay? You sounded pretty angry." I watched him smiling again.

"Oh, it was nothing important", Loki said, looking in my eyes attentively. "Thank you for asking, though. I just thought he cheated at Monopoly."

Classic god of lies. "Oh, I thought it was something serious", I said. "Glad you are well." I snuggled deeper into the pillows so that my shoulder touched his. I examined Loki's beautiful face. He watched me like he wasn't sure in which direction that conversation would go, and I happily identified a little shy panic in his eyes. That's what he got for lying.

"Did you do something with your hair today?", I murmured.

"Uhm, no, or, yes, just the usual ... routine ..." His voice faded as I stretched out my hand to tuck one of the strands behind his ear.

"You look beautiful", I whispered.

Loki's cheeks lighted up in pink. "Thank you", he gave back, his voice hoarse.

I leaned in, only centimeters away from his mouth. He closed his eyes.

"I will kiss you under one condition", I said quietly.

Loki's eyes flew open.

"Don't lie to me about your jealousy again."

He was speechless, frozen in not believing what was happening.

I smirked and kissed him. Loki melted into my kiss, the book he was holding fell to the ground. I shamelessy wrapped my arms around him like I dreamed about all these times ... caressing him in a way that made him flustered.

Then, we pulled away.

"Let me ... let me just put the tea on the table, dear", he whispered, his voice still hoarse. "I can't move while holding it."

"But I like you helpless", I grinned. I watched his face turn not pink but deep red, then I bend down to kiss him again.

A oneshot about a jealous Loki was requested by belongs_to_loki. I hope it is like you wanted it, I added a little bit of shy Loki for the spice. I love shy Loki and just felt it at this one. Have a nice day!
