The Road to Defeat

ONE

At last; we're home

It was a great day inside the rented house that everyone was currently living in. For once everyone was in the same place. With eight people under one roof, it could be hard to spend time with everybody together.

Jin being the oldest member of the group never acted his age. He was always doing something crazy, but in a way it was peaceful, he never took life too seriously. The next oldest was Yoongi, who was always the quiet one in the room, but the most caring and affectionate (although most of the time he would never admit that). Hoseok was always the light in any dark situation. He brought joy with him everywhere he went, and his laughter was always the most contagious thing to hear. Then there was Namjoon, who was one pain in the ass, but his goal was always to keep his loved ones safe and happy (even if he has a weird way of showing it). Jimin was an amazing friend to have by your side, he will always be there for you even when it isn't what's best for him. Taehyung, or Tae as everyone calls him, is an old soul despite his age. He was extremely kind hearted and he finds the most joy out of the simplest things in life. The baby of the group is Jeongguk, a playful spirit who enjoys making the most out of life. However when it comes down to it, he can be the most intimidating person around and he doesn't take crap from anyone. Finally there was Emily. Emily was Taehyung's beautiful girlfriend. She was outgoing and, like Tae, could find joy in the simple things. Emily had been friends with the boys for about seven months now and only recently had she started staying with them.

Emily met the seven boys one summer night in South Korea, where she had recently moved. However, now being long term friends with them, they all decided to take a trip to Italy. Taehyung had told Emily that the boys and himself had a few things to take care of in Rome, as they'd worked there prior, so they decided to make a trip out of it. Emily didn't mind that it was a business trip at all, honestly she was just happy to have been invited on the getaway. She had never been to Italy, and she was happy to be going with her friends.

The boys were extremely hard working, and for the first time in a while they actually had a day that was completely free. Namjoon, being the nature loving man that he is, wanted the entire group to go outside for a walk. Not everyone was very keen on the idea at first, but once some of them heard that shopping would be involved, they all agreed to come along. Soon all the members were putting on their jackets.

It was colder outside than the previous days in Rome, but once everyone started the journey, their bodies soon warmed up. Emily didn't quite know what kind of business the group was here for, but she wasn't one to object, especially when she had the chance to come to Italy for the first time. She hadn't really had the chance to get out of the rental house much, and Taehyung, being the protected boyfriend that he is, didn't like the idea of her walking about alone. Emily was awestruck by the beautiful scenery in front of her, not having seen anything like it before. The architecture was so detailed and aged, but something about it seemed so fresh. Part of the reason why she liked this atmosphere so much is because it reminded her of Taehyung. The antique vibe of it all, the natural colours and muted tones, they all matched his vibe perfectly. To her Taehyung was much like an older soul. He always loved the finer things in life, like going on walks or cuddling up with a cup of tea. It was one thing that really attracted Emily towards him. Their personalities were so similar but at the same time they were both so different from each other, their relationship was always an adventure.

Shortly the group was on a larger street in the middle of the town, filled with more of the expensive stores around here.

"Woah look how big that Gucci store is!" Tae yelled in excitement, slightly tugging on Emily's hand trying to get her attention. He was excitedly pointing to the large Gucci sign and Emily let out a small chuckle. Of course Tae noticed this, and of course none of the other boys care.

Hoeseok led the group into a small store further down the road. It was a very small gift shop, and was filled with tons of odds and ends, small trinkets, and souvenirs of Rome.

The day didn't seem long enough. Emily could tell by looking at all the boys' faces that this was a much needed relaxing day for them. Everyone had seemed so calm and carefree, and on the quiet streets of Italy, it almost seemed like they felt at home with the place. However, once the sun started setting, the temperature outside started to drop. The group hurried home in the cool weather. Jeongguk being the competitive ball of energy that he is, challenged them all to race back home, but Jin was the only one who would compete with him. The group just laughed as they watched the two running towards the house.

Once the group arrived at the rented home, the boys went separate ways, many of them gravitating towards the living room. Emily made her way into the kitchen, and to her surprise, Yoongi allowed her to help cook dinner with him. Usually, Yoongi doesn't like people bothering him and getting in his way, but he seemed more joyful today. Emily was sure it was the fresh air which made him feel this way.
