A new friend

Taehyung had woken early, ready for his schedule full of tasks today. He lazily got up and went to start his morning routine. Before leaving the room he decided to wake Emily from her sleep.

"Em, I'm going to be busy with work today. Vincenzo will be downstairs waiting for you." Taehyung spoke softly, not wanting to be too loud. He kissed Emily on the cheek before exiting the room. Emily sighed. It felt like it was too early to be awake. Which for her it was, being seven in the morning. She never enjoyed getting up early. However, she slumped out of bed and got ready for the day. Emily took her time with getting ready, still feeling half asleep. When she finally made her way downstairs Vincenzo was standing in the kitchen, arms crossed and staring at nothing. She didn't know anything about it since she really hasn't talked to him much at all so she didn't want to make judgments. Emily looked at him slightly unimpressed before carrying on toward the living room. Vincenzo was not far behind her and he stood by the doorway of the room. He honestly seemed to be deep in thought or just spaced out. "Are you going to sit down or are you planning on standing there all day?" Emily asked with a bit of an attitude. She still wasn't very fond of the whole situation and it didn't help that he was acting so uptight. Emily loved and trusted Taehyung's judgment, but did she really need to have a babysitter? She knew that the mafia was dangerous of course, and she understood Taehyung wanting to be with someone when she left the house. However, when inside the house was she not protected enough by all the security? Vincenzo was shocked at first by the woman's words, looking toward Emily with a scowl. He didn't know much at all about Emily so he didn't know what to think of the situation.

After a while of the two sitting in awkward silence Emily decided that it might be good to try to get to know Vincenzo a bit. After all, they were probably going to be spending a lot of time together. Plus it was boring sitting and doing nothing, the awkward silence didn't help that at all. "So how long have you been a part of the mafia?" Emily was curious about this, as he seemed to be super comfortable with everything he was doing plus he seemed to know the boys pretty well, so she would be surprised if he was new. Vincenzo turned toward Emily, looking at her with questioning eyes. He himself didn't actually know much about Emily, all he knew was the small details Taehyung had told him. It took Vincenzo a few seconds to think about responding, was he actually open to getting to know Emily? He wasn't sure himself what the answer was. "I've been working in the mafia for over five years now, but I've known Taehyung for almost eight years." Emily wasn't very surprised by the answer. Vincenzo seemed to know what he was doing and he never seemed intimidated by the boy's authority. However, she didn't know that he was closest to Taehyung out of everyone. In a way this made Emily feel a lot better about everything. She knew that Tae wouldn't just trust anyone at random, but the fact that he has known Vincenzo for so long gave Emily more reassurance. She felt a lot better about the situation now. After all, if he and Taehyung were good friends then there was a high possibility that Emily would get along with him as well.

"I actually didn't know that you and Taehyung had known each other before you joined. How did you two meet?" Vincenzo nodded his head, prepared to answer her. He was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they were even having a civil conversation. Not that he thought of Emily poorly already, he was just not used to meeting new people and talking so openly so quickly. "It feels like Taehyung and I have been friends forever to be honest. We actually met after high school through a mutual friend of ours." Emily smiled in response to Vincenzo. Ever since she had been introduced to Vincenzo she viewed him as an emotionless employee. However, opening up to conversation with him, even though the conversation was short, she knew her judgments were wrong. Emily thought Vincenzo didn't seem so heartless now, he actually seemed like he would have quite a fun personality once you get to know him. In a way he was funny, he wasn't afraid to show attitude in his reactions and he made the funniest faces sometimes. So, Emily decided that she wanted to get to know Vincenzo more, she might even become friends with him, if he allowed it.
