"I hope none of my other children will see death..."
"Oyataka, greetings." Himo bowed in respect, the man smiled and spoke quietly due to his illness and in general, if this was the man who was practically the only thing keeping all the Hashira from squabbling then she had a fair amount of respect for him even if she didn't exactly have good relationships with all the Hashira. The respect had only gained traction when he'd explained his condition to her. "No need for the formality. Have you, Shinobu, and Tamayo created what we need?" He had asked in one of the kindest voices she could've ever heard throughout her fifteen years of living.
She nodded hesitantly and presented a wisteria adorned box that being held was in her arms rather carefully and gently. Inside that was filled with poisons of the highest concentration of Wisteria that she and Shinobu could possibly make with the help of Tamayo to include extra poisons inside along with it. There was a second full of regular poisons that they thought might slow down the regeneration of demons though he never said what it would be used for, was it as a backup? As some sort of ward for if demons breached the house? "These will be for?..."
"You will see very soon in due time, give Kochou-san and Tamayo my regards child." And Amane had taken the box without a word, she always seemed relatively silent when it came to Slayer Corps matters when even Oyataka spoke a few words at a time she spoke none. She stayed by his side silently, no commands, no words, no offhand remarks, absolutely nothing was said from the woman.
"You will know when we use them." Himo stepped out of the house and was outside with feet no longer in the wooden floors as one of his daughters closing the door behind her when she fully exited the estate. Once outside, a Kakushi grabbed her to be transported back to the grounds via the usual process if stuffing her into a box like she was a present. "You know when the time is right for you to use it too, correct?" He asked before she disappeared out of their sight, barely hearing and almost missing the message, nodding a few seconds before disappearing into the box. She could hear one if the daughters speaking inside.
-
Himo looked down, a metal three pronged spike trap, coated with something on it. She picked it up gingerly and smelled it slightly, even with her small inhale, the strong scent of Wisteria breezed into her senses faster than a bullet could fly out of a gun, it was the same one she had helped make and it coated the entire metal craft like a clingy partner. There were dozens around them that littered the floor like cherry blossoms after spring, except these were deadly of course.
'So this was planned. And I know Muzan's in there, but he's attempting to hide his identity from me like a fucking coward...I don't know a lot of things, but what I do know is that Ubuyashiki is dead.' She thought with a pained face as they delved into the burning house with Tomioka and Tanjiro at her side. Himo had only spoken with Ubuyashiki a few times but this was an insult, she could tell he was a kind man, yet a terrifyingly all-knowing one at that. "So this is what he had been planning...there's only one demon he would've expected..."
"What's going on?! Can you sense it?!" Tomioka shouted at her while they avoided the metal traps, through his short time knowing her, he quickly picked up on the fact she could do things undetectable to everyone else. "Ubuyashiki and much of his family is dead in the explosion. Muzan is in there along with someone else I can't...all I know is that he's weak, another few souls are in there, and used poison to stop Kibutsuji's regeneration temporarily, he expected the fact we would arrive while Muzan was injured and hopefully finish him off permanently." She reported back with chills running down her spine at the fact he would pull this plan with such carefulness towards every step, he'd given her a special role in all of it but had managed to plan each of these with the carefulness of a house breaker. "What...No. Oyataka-sama isn't dead, he can't have died..." Tanjiro said crestfallen.
"Well...You better pray to Buddha I'm wrong because so far, I've always been dead right."
[Heh...dead jokes...]-Himo said furiously with her sword light and ready in her hands, "Muzan won't die just by decapitation from what I know. We need to keep him here until the sun comes up and burn him. It's probably why he needed Nezuko so badly now that I think about it, it's because he can't withstand the sun unlike her. No wonder he only showed up at night that time." She explained, her brain clicking things together as they neared the house and Muzan respectively.
"It's going to be about...Six hours until sunrise at the very least." Himo estimated, looking up at the glimmering moon still hanging in the sky. Her heart fell, no way Muzan would just sit still for hours twiddling his thumbs and let them navigate around the wreckage to keep him there until sunrise to die. They wouldn't be able to hold off Muzan, the strongest and only Demon Lord in all of Japan for that long. Pillars or not, it seemed too far from their hands. The moon stayed still, unconcerned with their troubles, thousands of kilometers away idly waiting in the sky.
How many times had demons seen the moon? In his lifetime of course, that's all Muzan would've ever seen, but what about others who had died short when a slayer killed them. Did they stare up at the moon or rising sun to wonder about their lives before they died like a bitter reminder? What about those who burned like Rui's siblings when they had disobeyed, did they think the sun was a curse or a blessing when they were once human enough to remember it? Or did they see their death as a revelation had they never seen the sun, seeing a flaming ball of fire rising triumphantly into the sky, burning them and their eyes but remaining so beautiful.
Humans of course saw it as a saviour to drive back the demons and as a crucial part of storytelling to children, bright and supposedly good to ward off yokai and other evils, but what about the demons themselves. Did the demons ever wonder what would've happened if they ever refused becoming a demon or had never become one at all? Some people were happy not being a demon but forgot that feeling once they'd become one whether by force or pushed to be one through situations. What about those who had been demons for hundreds of years, did they ever forget or fear forgetting their human life?
The Pillars, Tanjiro, Himo, Inosuke, Kanao, Zenitsu, and many others at once, simultaneously lunged at him and the souls of the dead guided their hands, all with their own techniques at the ready. She readied a new experimental one that had been waiting in her arsenal until now,
Breath of the Dead:
Destruction of the Body and Mind
It's a very fluid attack and can be used to let her target a demon's body or head, it never misses if her way isn't blocked, so if she uses it, either a demon's head will come off or their body will be plagued with the spirits of the dead.Muzan grinned and walls began constructing themselves around all of them like invisible spirits decided it was the best time to start a construction project, her attack was cut short and she rammed into a wall, almost face first. Himo managed to take the brunt of the impact with her shoulder thanks to Sanemi's insane training letting her not die in the most humiliating way possible. Even still, it hurt, something about running at something at top speed and suddenly having to ram yourself into a wall unexpectedly was no appreciated.
For a moment Himo caught footing but he glared and the wall pushed her off the ledge where she dangled by the tips of her fingers, her arm burned with the strain since she couldn't simply drop her sword, it wouldn't just magically come back and Haganezuka she feared more than Muzan, he'd have her head if she lost it. "You seriously thought you could corner me?! You're all going to hell now!!" Muzan shouted manically as they suddenly found that the floors had disappeared from under their feet like rugs pulled away and they fell together into the unknown, "You pathetic Demon Hunter pests. I'm slaughtering all of you tonight!"
"If I'm going, you're coming with me!" Himo shouted at him furiously while she fell into a chasm below as the ground disappeared underneath her feet and her arm gave out. The walls had separated her from Tomioka and Tanjiro so now she was alone and free falling through Muzan's own fortress where he could manipulate it as much as he wanted. "Come and get me then Himo Sotte! Try and avenge your parents!" He laughed, it was the last thing she heard of the monster before she fell into the infinite halls.
He really thinks Oyataka-sama's plan doesn't stretch farther than Lady Tamayo using the drug on him and the poison explosion to sacrifice himself...so even after centuries of life, he seriously hasn't learned anything about Demon Hunters has he...
