"What are you thinking about? Hey, Jake. I'm talking to you." I rolled my eyes before looking next to me at Leon. He was very talkative, how unusual for him. "I'm thinking about how I will kill Redfield." I snickered and Leon sighed softly. "That's what I was afraid of." He said and bumped my shoulder with his. I looked at him before looking down at my hands. I was holding Piers' dog tags in them. Please please, be alive. "He is going to be fine Jake. He is a tough one." I knew that but even tho he was tough, he already almost died two times. "I thought you were thinking about how mad Sherry was when you told her you are going after Piers." He said and I whined. That too. She was not happy about it. She was pissed off actually.

"You are going where?!" Sherry yelled at me while I was packing some stuff. "The BSAA is going to kill Piers. Actually Chris is going to do it. Me and Leon are going to save him." I said while checking if I have everything I need. I grabbed Piers' dog tags that were laying on the table next to the bed. I put them around my neck before finally looking at her. The look on her face was devastating but this was something I had to do. He was my best friend. Oh please Jake stop fooling yourself. Nice now I'm talking to myself in my head. "Jake!" She slapped my chest to bring me back to reality. "Sherry I'm sorry. I have to do it. He would do the same for me. For all of us."
"You will get killed one day because of him! And what about me? Are you just going to leave me? And because of what? Because of a guy that is truly dangerous to the society? The guy you claim to be your best friend but is actually much more than that? I'm your partner! You are supposed to be by my side. Not his!" I knew it. I knew all the things she was saying were true but still. It didn't stop me from walking out of the bedroom. "Sherry...I love you." I said once I was facing her, holding her hands in mine. "But he needs me. I won't let them hunt him down just because he is different. I can control him. I can help him." I smiled at her but she pulled her hands back, shaking her head. "What if I ask you to stay? Not to go."
"I would still go."
"What if I tell you to never come back here if you leave?" She whispered softly while looking into my eyes. I saw tears forming in her eyes. "If you want me not to save him, you want me to stop being myself." I told her and she shakes her head. "I'm asking you to choose. Me or Piers?" Was she seriously asking me that? I was angry at her. How could she be like that? "Are you serious?"
"Dead serious Jake. Me or him?" I closed my eyes slowly, taking a deep breath. I'm so sorry...I walked towards her , kissing her soft lips before pulling back. "Goodbye Supergirl." I whispered before leaving the apartment quickly. I could hear her cry while waiting for the elevator. I'm so sorry.

"Jake?" Leon whispered and I blinked quickly. "Yes?"
"What happened between you and Sherry?"
"We broke up. I'm sorry I know you two have a special relationship but..I made a choice."
"A choice?"
"Yes. That's why we need to find him as soon as possible. He is my choice." I looked up and blinked as I saw Leon's big grin. "Why are you looking at me like that? It's creepy."
"Nothing. It's just..I kinda expected this to happen, that's all." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah sure."
"You know he is in love with Chris, right?"
"He is not. Not the way he used to be." I said and Leon rubs his nape. "He told you that?"

"Are you alright Bolt?" I said as Piers sighed for hundred times. He shook his head. "It's about Chris. Something is wrong Jake." He said and I groaned. Of course it's about Redfield. Everything bad in his life happened because of Chris. "What happened?"
"I..I think I changed. I don't feel what I'm supposed to feel according to everything you all told me. How I was in love with him for years." I rubbed my face and sighed. "You lost all of your memories about him. I guess that's normal." He shook his head. "It's not just that. I feel like he doesn't understand me at all. He is acting like I was a sick person."
"Did you tell him how you feel?" I asked him and patted his head gently. "No? You know it's hard for me to talk about serious things like that with other people." He ruffled his hair and I laughed. "You are talking to me right now."
"But that's different. I trust you." He looked so serious while saying that. "I'm glad you do." He smiled before looking up at the ceiling again. "I just don't love him the way I did. I know it even without my memories. I just..he is acting weird lately. I feel like I can't trust him. Not like I trust you. Or Leon."
"I will always have your back Bolt. No matter what." He gave me his soft smile before resting his head on my lap. "And I will have yours."

"Yes. He did tell me." I said and Leon sighed. "He went through a lot for Chris. I don't blame him."
"I just hope he is alright. I just want him to be alright."

It took us a week to finally get their location. The level of my anxiety was dangerously high. We are late. We are too late I can feel it in my bones. "Jake I can hear you thinking all the way here." Leon scolded me again. "Can you just calm down."
"Ada is taking forever to get back!" I snapped at him. Yes we met with Ada Wong. She didn't change a bit. When she heard from Leon about what's going on, she didn't hesitate to help us. Actually she was the one who found them. "Someone is eager to get their hands on the puppy." She purrs into my ear out of nowhere. "Fucking hell Ada!" I patted my chest to calm down my heartbeat. I looked as she walked towards laughing Leon. "Calm down Jake."
"I will calm down. Once I will have Piers alive and breathing by my side."
"That will be soon enough. I found them. I saw Piers." She smirked before helping Leon with some stuff. "Let's go get him." Leon smiles and patted my shoulder as he walked by.

"You fucking shot me!" Piers. After I heard the gunshot I picked up the pace to get there quicker. "Stay where you are Piers." Even I noticed how Chris's voice changed. He was scared. "Leon, Ada! I'm going down." I didn't wait for their reply before making my way down the hill. Just now I could see what happened. Piers killed someone. No...He was holding his injured shoulder while moving towards Chris. He was pointing his gun right at Piers. Before I knew what I was doing, the head of my gun was pressed against Chris's head.
"I wouldn't pull that trigger if I was you, Redfield." I growled , looking over at Piers. He stopped moving. His eyes had their color back again. He looked shocked but relieved at the same time. "Jake..." He whispered and I gave him a small nod. "Piers!" Piers looked behind him and covered his mouth as he saw Leon and Ada. "You are all here guys...you found something, right?" He was looking at Leon. "Yes. Everything will be just fine now okay?" Leon told him and Piers moved closer to them. I focused back on Chris again. "How could you sign those papers?"
"How do you know about them?" Oh I'm gonna enjoy this. "Thanks to Piers. He left a letter for Leon before he left. Saying you are all acting weird. He didn't trust you so he asked Leon for help. Turned out he was right not to trust you." He let the gun fall to the ground. "He didn't trust me. He doesn't trust me."
"No he doesn't. You are supposed to kill him during this mission."
"If he turns dangerous, yes."
"I won't let you touch him. I will kill every single one of you if it means he lives." I growled into his ear before pushing him down to the ground. I left him there and walked towards Piers. I pulled him into my arms, taking in the scent of his body. "I'm here now."
A week ago I made a choice. A choice I maybe will regret later. But for now, I was just finally at peace. That's until a single gunshot changed the peaceful moment into a bloody massacre.
