CHRIS

After I left the hospital I went straight to the bar. I had to relax and let go of all of the worries, even for a little bit. Don't take me wrong I was happy to see Piers. I'm happy he is alive and that I can be with him but seeing him like that was too much. I was trying to keep myself together. I didn't want to have a breakdown right in front of him. It was already too hard for him and I was someone he counted on. It wasn't his new look, not at all. Just.. His arm was gone, he was probably blind on one eye and the only thing he cared about was if I'm okay and if he would be able to come back to BSAA. But this was Piers, I should have expected it. "Looks like we had the same ideas." I looked behind me and rolled my eyes when I saw Jake. "Are you following me?"
"I'm not Nivans." Jake bit back before smirking.  "It was too much even for you, right?" He said with a bit softer voice. He ordered us beer, handing me the bottle. "Last time I saw him he was ready to shoot my head off and now.. He can't even move." Jake said, drinking his beer. "Piers was always so strong and the best. It's so hard to see him like that." I said with a sigh, taking a sip as well. "What are you going to do?" He asked me and I could just shrug. "I don't know. I wanna be here for him and I will do my best but it will be hard and I know him. He will want to be best again." I finished the bottle and ordered another one. "Maybe he will surprise you. Maybe he will agree to have the prosthetic arm. He can learn how to use his rifle again."
"And what about his eye? Half blind sniper?" I snickered and I wanted to punch myself for talking like that. "You are lucky he can't hear you. I think he would be pretty sad about his captain not believing in him." Was he serious? "I'm not sure I will be able to help him. To take it without breaking." I said while rubbing my face. "You are the only one who can help him. You are all he has if I'm right." Jake said, already ordering another round of beer. "Don't bother about it now. You will see how you will feel tomorrow." I looked at Jake and smiled. He was right.

The next morning I woke up with a horrible headache in my house. I fell asleep on the couch. Last night me and Jake drank a bit too much. I looked down next to me on the floor when I heard a groan and I found out Jake was sleeping there. Did I even invite him to stay over? "Hey Muller. Get up." I poked his side with my foot, smirking when he groaned. "Leave me alone Redfield." I rolled my eyes at him before standing up, walking to the kitchen. "Want some coffee?" I asked him and he groaned in response. "Will take that as yes." I said and went to make us some coffee. I made a quick breakfast before I took Jake back home. Sherry was really mad when he showed up on the doorstep. I talk to her a bit and then I drove to the hospital. When I came in, the doctor who led the surgery of Piers stopped me. "Mr. Redfield, good you are here." He said and I got scared. Did something happen to Piers? "It's about Mr. Nivans. He had a horrible night. Nightmares mostly but he wanted to run away from the hospital." He said and I sighed. He was scared. I thanked the doctor for the information before walking towards Piers' room. I opened the door slowly, peeking in. He was tied to the bed, looking in front of himself. "Hey Piers." I said and he looked towards the door. "Captain." There was something in his eyes. Hope? Happiness? I walked towards the bed, sitting down on the chair. "Are you okay? I heard what happened." He blushed and looked away. "I thought I'm still down there.. I wanted to run away." He whispered and I took his hand into mine. I leaned closer and his dog tags I put around my neck dangled slowly. He blinked softly. "Are those.. Mine?" I blushed and nodded. He smiled. "Keep them." He said and looked at the bed side table. There was a chocolate and I hummed. "Can you feed me some?" He asked and opened his mouth. I blushed. "Uh.. Sure." I took a small piece and fed him with it. "Who gave it to you?" He swallowed the chocolate before speaking. "Kennedy." He said and opened his mouth again. I fed him once more. "Leon? Why was he here?" Why the hell was Leon Kennedy here? "He felt sorry for sending us to save Sherry and Jake. And he wanted to know... What happened there." I was angry. Leon made Piers talk about the worst thing that happened to him. Piers was able to sense my distress and laughed a bit. "It's okay, really. He was nice I guess. It was hard to talk about it but it helped a bit. To talk about it." He said and I glared at him. "You can talk to me about it too." He looked away. "No I can't because you were there. To see you call for me..trying to save me. It hurts cause I wanted to go with you but I knew I couldn't do that." He whispered, biting his bottom lip. "It's hard to talk about this with you because I don't want to make you sad. Sherry told me how sad you were." I looked down. I couldn't look into his eyes. Well.. Eye. "H-How do you feel? Does it hurt?" He shook his head. "Just a little bit. I guess the morphine is still working a little bit. It feels weird not to have one arm. And the thing with my eye.." He sighed sadly. I squeezed his hand gently. "It will be alright. I will help you. You will learn how to use the rifle again if you will agree with the prosthetic arm." He nodded slowly. "Leon said that if you will be busy with mission, he will be happy to help." He said and I growled. Why did Leon care so much? It's my job to help Piers. "Are you okay Captain?" He asked and I rolled my eyes. "It's Chris, Piers." He smiled a bit, whispering a soft okay. "I'm fine. I just don't get Leon." Piers laughed a bit. "Don't worry Chris, you are still my favorite." He said and then it was like he realized what he said and he blushed. I smiled. I felt good while hearing that. I wanted to chat a bit more bit then I got called in. Jill said it was important. I didn't miss the sad look Piers gave me." I will be back tomorrow, alright?"
"You don't have to come here everyday Chris."
"I want to." I ruffled his hair carefully before leaving the hospital, missing how Piers' body shook as he cried.
