Time for football.
It was one of the first weeks of football season and Clay was already doing great. He knew there were already college scouts coming to see him at many of his games, so he had to try his best to win their attention and maybe impress them.
Clay invited George to his game. They're getting closer and closer, and George has only been going to Clay's school for about two weeks now.
Clay usually went to George's house everyday. He felt more comfortable being at George's house instead of his. He only brings George to his house whenever his dad isn't home, which is actually a pretty normal occurrence.
After his football game, they were going to go to Clay's house this time. It was going to be a little bit of a late study night, but neither one of them seemed to mind. They enjoyed each other's company a little too much.
Anyone could tell George had no clue how football worked. They did call soccer football in England, which confused George a lot already. He started to figure out what everything meant, at least after Bad told him how to play.
Every time Clay scored a touchdown, he would look at the crowd to see people cheering. Normally he didn't care that much, but George was cheering. That made him feel good.
Clay actually scored many touchdowns that game and they won. Everyone was celebrating, but Clay didn't even want to at this point. He was more excited about seeing George after the game, even if it meant having to study.
"Hey George!" Clay caught his eye after the game. "Ready to go?" George asked.
"Yup, I'm actually good with studying tonight. I thought I'd be exhausted." Clay and George got in Clay's car and drove off towards his house.
Once they got here, it was already eight-thirty. Neither one of them minded and just took out their chemistry books after Clay took a quick shower.
Clay has found that George was a lot smarter than him in every single subject he was taking. He's helped him with every class, and now he's making at least a D in each class. Beforehand, he was failing almost every one of his classes.
They studied for about an hour and a half and were both getting really tired. So they took a break from studying and just laid on Clay's bed.
"You know, I dated Kate my freshman year," Clay started. "We dated for a few months and got into fights all the time, so we broke up. We tolerate each other now, but she's the only real girlfriend I've had."
George looked utterly shocked. "What? I didn't even know you dated Kate, and I thought every girl liked you. Why haven't you dated any of them?"
Clay chuckled. "First of all, Kate and I don't really like talking about how we dated. It was a mistake," Clay turned to his side to be facing George.
"Secondly, I'm not a big fan of dating. Never have been. Always been raised that football comes first."
Ouch, George thought to himself.
"You don't have time for any girls at all?" George asked, trying not to look so concerned about it.
"I mean, I do. But all the girls at our school are dramatic. One time, a girl at our school showed up to my house completely naked. She was drunk as hell, but she was yelling in my front yard trying to call me out there. My mom ended up opening the door and shooing her off. It was embarrassing."
