The anticipation for the upcoming Battle was intense. Loki had to admit that the team his brother had joined were good. He already knew that from brain washing Agent Barton. From Barton's mind he saw just how formable Agent Romanoff was, he saw it all. He did not know the others though, a monster that turned green who in real life was a doctor, or the man who was out of time, who didn't age. The man in the metal was just annoying especially his sense of humour, there was no humour just annoying insults. Who comes up with the name 'Reindeer Games'?
Loki had hoped that his brother would have been able to see that he was being controlled as well, but alas no one did. Agent Barton had an inkling that may have been the case, Loki knew this because he made the archer see the torture, he had suffered at the hands of Thanos. Loki just didn't know if the midgardian knew what he was seeing was real or just another one of Loki's mind tricks. Loki couldn't blame him, not after everything Loki had done to him. When he was in the carrier, he heard as they spoke about him, fought with each other when they were surrounding his sceptre, the doctor who turned into the hulk was correct, it was his M.O but he didn't want it to be. He truly tried to make sure no one died. The poor agent Coulson, Loki believed his name was; his injury while admittedly bad, could have been much worse if Loki hadn't temporarily broken through the control of the Others. Loki made sure his Sceptre went through the man's stomach rather than the chest, and even if it was merely a small feat, Loki was proud of it.
He had felt the control he had over Barton break when the archer's friend had bashed his head into a railing. He had felt his power leave the other man's mind and was secretly glad. Despite what everyone thought of him, he hated unnecessary pain to others, human or animals. He hated the idea of others hurting if he could have prevented it, so when Barton was freed from his influence, he smiled where he stood on the balcony of the strange building that the scientist friend of his brother had suggested.
The building was horrible, nothing like a shiny beacon to all around it. But he had to grudgingly admit that it supplied sufficient energy for what was needed to open the portal. With the portal itself, he made sure the doctor knew of a fail-safe that would destroy the connection. His Sceptre jammed into it would break the connection and the portal would crash down on itself, destroying all of the Mad Titan's army that no doubt hovered above the planet for access. He watched as his workers made the final touches to the plan he so wanted to abandon, and his thoughts travelled to his brother again for the hundredth time since seeing him again. He wanted to hug his brother, beg for his forgiveness for all the years they spent at each other's throat, but Thor wouldn't have believed it even if the Other's connection had been broken for long enough.
Looking around Loki heard the mechanism of Shellhead's invention humming to life as the man himself stood on the balcony. He watched as the man left his body of armour and stalked towards him where he stood at the balcony eyeing off everything that was happening below.
"Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity." The God purred at the man, startling him for a moment. Loki may as well have been the God of sex because no matter the gender of his victim, his voice always sounded like pure sex. He muffled a chuckle as the man of metal's eyes dilated with lust and he was left slightly aroused.
Tony Stark, the man of the hour, shook his head and looked up at the God with confusion. "Uh... actually, I'm planning to threaten you."
Loki couldn't help but snort at the man. He pointed to the shirt that the man had worn under his metal suit. "You should have left your armour on for that."
Tony shrugged as he descended the stairs that lead to the bar and common room, and took down a bottle of scotch. "Yeah, it's seen a bit of mileage. You've got the blue stick of destiny." He waved his hand in the direction of the Sceptre that was by Loki's side like a good little puppy, waiting to be pat. Tony then pointed to the bar, "Would you like a drink?"
