"Hi, Mama! Happy birthday to me!"

Today is July 13 and I'm here at the cemetery alone. I put down the basket of flowers and the box of cake first before I sat on the grass. I lighted the candles placed on her tombstone. Then, I took my cake out of the box.

"Mama... join me in blowing the candles," sabi ko after ilagay ang candle na 1 and 7 sa cake ko. Sinindihan ko na rin. "One, two, three..."

I smiled when the smoke goes up after I blew the candle. Binalik ko na rin sa box ang cake. This is my kind of celebration. I always celebrate my birthday with Mama.

I pursed my lips. "And, today is your 10th death a-anniversary." My voice broke.

My mother died on my 7th birthday. How sad for a kid like me? 7th birthday for every kid is special but for me, it wasn't. There's nothing special about this date. About that date.

"Masain ka po, Mama, Papa?" I asked when I saw them about to go out of our house holding a huge bag.

Mama kneel in my front so we could be on the same height. "Your Mama and Papa will just go somewhere. We'll be back tomorrow," she said softly.

"Mama, tomorrow is my birthday yet you're going to travel again. I hate you and Papa," I said and crossed my arms over my chest.

She and Papa chuckled. "We'll bring you gifts from that place. What my daughter wants?"

I pouted. "I want you to stay here, Mama, Papa."

She smiled. "We can't baby. We really have to go there."

"Tabi?" I pleaded.

She sighed. "Sorry, anak. But, I promise. Mama and Papa promise that we'll be back tomorrow."

I hugged her. "Stay, Mama, Papa... Tomorrow is my birthday and you'll not be here? I'm going to be sad."

"Bunso... babalik sina Mama," I heard Kuya Presven said.

I shook my head. "Stay po."

Mama caressed my back. "We'll be back, anak. I promise, okay? Now, let Mama enjoy this day."

I sighed and showered her face with kisses. "You'll be back, okay? Papa, you'll go back here with Mama," I said and glared at him.

He chuckled. "Of course, princess."

The next day, it's my birthday. Kuya Preston woke me up and the two of them, he's with Kuya Presven, are holding cake each.

"Happy birthday, Presly, bunso!" They greeted and smiled at me.

I smiled when they kissed my cheek. "Dios mabalos, Kuyas!" I thanked them and blew the candles.

"Mama is calling us. Here," Kuya Preston said and placed his phone in front of me.

[Anak, happy birthday!] She and Papa greeted me at the same time.

I smiled. "Thank you, Mama and Papa!"

She smiled. [Very good, anak! Do not forget what I teach you, okay? About the thank you.]

I nodded. "Of course, Mama. I always remember that. Are you going home now?" I asked.

[Yes, anak. Pasakay na kami ng eroplano. Happy birthday, again. See you later.] She said. [Happy birthday, anak.] Papa said.

"See you later. I love you both!" I said and waved my hands.
