Splinter Way

Chapter 20

"Hey Jack, it's time for school." His mom announced. She sat at the edge of his bed, waiting for him to wake up.

"I- I'm not feeling good today." Jack lied, right under his moms nose. She had a moment of realization, and nodded.

"Oh yeah- I'm gonna go drop off some stuff though. I think Ms. Kim might need it. And your also going to Crews speaking at the school no matter what. Get better sweetie." Jack waited in his bed until he heard the garage small closed, and he rushed out of bed into the basement, where he saw a sleeping Lani.

"Hey Lani." Jack spoke, watching as she cutely woke up and yawned. He sat next to her on the couch. "Wake up. I got a surprise." He grabbed her and lead her upstairs as she tried to pull back, uncomfortable.
"Voila, the rest of my house." He welcomes around the house, showing off his moms collection of China pottery, his own collection, which was of rocks, his big TV, and his room. As she got up she looked around, spotting a little picture of him, Crew, Hayden, and Lauren winning the arcade high score together on Tetris.

She pointed at the picture of Crew, catching Jack off guard.

"Wait what? You know him?" Jack asked, a glint if hope in her eyes. Maybe she knew what happened to him.

"Familiar." She noted, looking closer at the picture. She began touching with her nails, but suddenly she was pulled away, by some weird force. She slowly walked to the hallway as Jack called for her, as she turned the corner she saw the stairs. A trail go black goo ran up the stairs, all the way into the attic. It ate up the wood.

"What the Fu-" Jack nearly finished, nearly placing his hand I'm on it, before being swatted away by Lani.

"I want to go back down. Now." She ordered, starting to head back. Jack followed her, still having his eye on that black goo.
