Splinter Way

Chapter 5

"Mr Carpenter is a fucking loser, I swear." Spoke Hannah, enraged. She and her friends exited the school grounds, heading home for the day, they stood firmly on the fence, stopping and talking before they go there separate ways.

"I know right. Didn't he give you detention?" Questioned Charlotte with a perfect eye-rolling to go along.

"I remember him. Sort of. He was off a lot." Spoke Lauren, twirling her hair in a flirtatious manner.

"Jack, it's my mom. C'mon, you're sleeping over today since your mom has work in the morning. Charlotte comes too." Crew mentioned, running towards a white SUV. Jack hugs them and fist bumped Hayden.

"Bye Drista. Oh and uhh, do you wanna- never mind." He and Charlotte get in the car with there backpacks attached. Among the car is Crews mom, Ms. Kim, Cambrie, the middle child, and Cayleigh, the youngest. Crew and Jack have been friends longer than any of main group, except for the siblings obviously.

"Hey y'all! We got some cookies from Tiffs if you're hungry!" Ms. Kim explained. The kids jumped with joy, daring to snag a few cookies for themselves.

"Mmm. What's been happening since we last saw each other?" Cambrie broiled with excitement.

"Not much to be honest." Charlotte said.

"I'm just glad we're back," Crew spoke, tilting his glasses. They all laughed and smiled as they ate cookies.

"These remind me of the good old days." Jack engaged in the laughing of the group, greatly appreciated and appropriate for the mood.

The kids continued to laugh and play as Ms. Kim parked the car. By then the sun was setting, and Ms. Kim needed to breastfeed and send baby Cayleigh to sleep. They all piled out.

As Jack got out of the stinky, stench full car, he spotted his paper fly out of his backpack. He ran over and grabbed the paper before the wind took control of it.

As he did, he swear he saw a figure in the distance running from sight, but he ignored it. This was going to be the best day ever!

Or so he thought.
