Chapter 21
(Get your snacks ready)
"Ang I'm telling you. I am going to choose myself over a relationship with Rose for now. I need to unfuck what my ex fucked up." I said sighing as I shut my locker closed. Walking arm in arm with such a petite glass wearing little cutie gave me such Jennifer Body's vide. Not that I am saying I'm as hot as Megan Fox because there's no way in hell that's ever going to happen. More like we are the friends no one expected us to me.
Pushing the door open I see Perla on Kates arm, making me internally gag. Hearing Mike scream my name, I looked towards his table where Angela lead me to. "Yo so are you coming to the diner for some burgers after school? You never hang out with us anymore." He spoke with his arms out in an exaggerated way. Rolling my eyes I chuckled at how Mike, Eric and Angela pouted waiting for my answer. "Ugh fine. If must." Hearing the three whisper yell yes I took my cue to go. "Hey wait, Rosalies been staring, hard." Angela whispers in my ear gesturing to the blonde who was wearing a white beanie today.
"Angela, I'm struggle enough as it is." I blushed looking down dismissing the smaller girl and making my way to the Cullen table.
Low and behold, Rosalie was in fact staring at me with playful eyes as she took a tiny bite of her carrot. Instantly making my heart race and causing my body to heat up at the sudden attention. Thankfully Alice saved me a seat next to her which was unfortunately next to the blonde beauty. Everyone greeted me and continued on with their conversation. "So you and Mike? The diner? Really?" She said in a low voice making my spine shake in chills. Uh oh, she got the wrong idea. "It's not like that Rose." I said turning towards her. "Then what's it like Eden?" She inquired some more.
"Rosalie, Eden has a life outside of school and you. So calm yourself and remember your manners." Edward piped up looking at us, making my mouth hang wide open. I was speechless to say the least. This caused Rosalie to storm out of the lunch room. No one said anything and as much as Edward was right, I felt the need to tend to Rose. Just too make sure she's okay. Getting up and excusing myself I mad my way to the parking lot where she spotted me walking towards her. Making her roll her eyes.
"Rose what's wrong?" I asked quietly closing the big gap between us. Seeing her scoff I backed away a few steps. "Nothing's wrong. It's none of my business." she spat. Sighing I fought back the tears that have uninvitedly shown up.
"Rose, it wasn't like that. I would be with Angela and Eric too."
"Great a double date." Hearing her sarcasm made my winced at the thickness of tension in the air.
Growing frustrated at how unfair Rosalie was being I mustered the courage. Standing my ground I close the gap once again only being a few feet away from here. Staring her in her honey dew eyes I opened my mouth to speak. "Rosalie, if I say it's not like that then I mean it. There is nothing going on between me and Mike and you're crazy if you think I would ever go for a boy. On top of that I told you. You are the only one I would even be in a relationship with. Mike is just a friend." Catching my breathe I stared hard into her. Not once breaking eye contact.
"Then what am I?" her voiced raised slightly. Gulping down, I wasn't sure what she was to me.
"Not a friend Rose, never a friend." I said referring to how she's somehow more than a friend. The silence was deadly. Only a few seconds. A few seconds until she spoke again.
"So if I'm not even a friend then theres no reason to be out here talking to me."
Panic filled my being and the tears invited themselves back as I stared at her back that was growing smaller and smaller as the distance between us grew. I never meant it in that way and I ruined it all. All of it. Whispering to myself as my tears ran down my cheeks, "You've always been more than a friend Rosie."
