Chapter 28
Surprise!!! Hold on everyone. A lot happens in this chapter.
"I don't understand what you see in that girl." My mother snarled at me as I walked into the kitchen to grab my keys. "What are you talking about?" I asked already annoyed. So I stood in my spot, arms crossed eying my mother who stood by the stove waiting for the kettle.
"What I mean is; I do not know what you see in that Rosalie girl. There are plenty of people in Forks. Jacob, Jared and Paul. There's even Leah knowing how you have a preference for girls." Scoffing at her I rolled my eyes and left the kitchen. I was not going to deal with her bullshit. She has been a complete no show and now she's going to judge who I'm seeing.
Slamming my car door shut I texted Perla
Eddie:hey heading to school. see you there
Perla<3:won't be there. don't feel good. sorry eddie. i love you
Eddie: Ill bring some soup and cuddles after school
Perla<3:no no it's okay. you'll get sick. text you later . going back to bed.
Eddie: oh okay. i love you too and sweet dreams
Feeling hurt by Perla's reaction I trie to brush off the sour feeling. First my mom and now Perla. Was I being a bad friend to Perla? The cloud of sadness had taken over no matter how hard I tried to shake it off. After driving to school without music playing I parked next to Emmet's jeep and went to the cluster that waited for me. Greeting everyone, I noticed Rosalie was already concerned with me. So choosing to stand next to her I felt her gently place her hand on my back which I leaned into. Letting her know it was okay.
Angie waved from across the lot, which I returned with a smile. My eyes then traveled to the girl with the orange truck. They had invited her to stand with them but she kindly refused gesturing to the book in the hand. I completely zoned out not knowing I was practically leaning most of my body weight on Rosalie. "Eden, is everything alright?" she whispered close to my ear holding me firmly against her. Nodding my head I gave her my best attempt at a smile. Seeing her reaction she did not once buy it. "Hey guys I'll be right back." I said moving away and heading towards the van that was surrounded by a group of loud teenagers.
"Angie, can I talk to you for a minute?" Pipping into the circle being greeted by the boys and Jessica. Luckily Angela knew it was important so she got up and walked with me. "Whats wrong?" She asked walking closer to me, keeping her voice down. Looking over at the petite brunette. "I don't know what's wrong with Perla. She's being weird. I know you don't know her much but what would you do if your best friend started avoiding you?" Looking over trying not to wince at my own words. Angie looked at me sympathetically. "I think it really depends on the person. You can go about this two ways. Confront her and talk it out or give her some space until she comes to you. You know her better than I do so you make the decision. Just remember that it might not be about you. She could be going through something of her own. Whatever it may be."
Nodding my head, I tried to smile the best I could to prevent my tears from emerging. Feeling Angie wrap her warms around me, I welcomed her hug and thanked her. "You truly are the best Ang." Hearing her laugh, made me laugh. She was the golden retriever friend I never had but thankfully have now. Walking her back to Tylers van, I headed towards the siblings who seemed to have grown quiet. Walking up closer I began to worry, "Uh oh. What happened?" Looking around, I noticed the them glance at Rosalie.
It had taken a moment for me to understand what they had tried to tell me with their glance. The silence and tension was thick so clearing my throat I had asked them for a moment of privacy which they quickly gave. "What is it that you wanted to speak about?" Slightly wincing at the tone she spoke in, I took my chances by taking a few more steps in front of her. "Well, clearly you feel some type of way whenever I am around Angelica. I just wanted to express the fact that she's just a friend and there's nothing going on there." I tried to speak calmly but my anxiety made it hard. Looking at the blonde who was staring off somewhere shooting daggers, she scoffed momentarily. "I'm not afraid that theres something going on between you. It's not like we're actually together." Her words venomous.
