Hey question

Do you guys actually read this top part of do you just skip to the art

You won't hurt my feelings I'm just genuinely curious

A n y w a y, here's the art, I'll tell you the story now so I can talk about the art later

So basically, good friend of mine was going through my art on Instagram and she was like "hey I've got a challenge for you: draw me" and I was like "oh yeah sure okay maybe"

And then I did it

And then I did it

So while I was drawing, I finished the sketch and I was like hhhhhhhh line art time which is weird because usually I like line art now (pressure sensitivity makes it really satisfying), but I was halfway done and I decided I just...didn't wanna

Why? It wasn't looking right, but there's also something really satisfying about being super lazy and coloring under a sketch. Don't know what it is, my sketches aren't elegant which nice brush strokes like some people, so but all accounts it shouldn't look that nice but

UNIVERSE DOES WHAT IT WANTS

It sounds like I'm complaining, I am not complaining

Anyway, I literally found the best thing is existence yesterday to help me make this: a ✨smudge tool✨. I say found, but I always knew it was there, I just never figured out how to use it properly? But i didn't know what I was doing in terms of coloring so I slapped on some colors with a hard brush, didn't like it, and decided to blend it. But I didn't really know how so get that done, and I figured I should at least give the smudge thing a try

And oh

My

God

Blending is a b r e e z e with this thing. If you have IbisPaintX, try it out on something. It's so nice, I love it

Anyway, the only thing I don't like about this piece is the lack of contrast, but that's a problem when I'm doing stuff all painterly like this that I just don't know how to fix yet—or I guess, prevent in terms of color picking. I can do it on flats, but after that, things get questionable.

I might've gone overboard with the hue shifting in the hair too, but it's j u s t s o f u n

But yeah, that's that! Hope you all have a wonderful day!
