Song For Dolores

Chapter 6

   I wait for James at the end of my street to pick me up. I pull down my dress since it seems to keep rising. I look at the empty street. The sky was getting dark and droplets of rain started to sprinkle on me. Just as I was about to walk off my ride gets here.

    “Sorry for making you wait long I had to pick up these idiots.” He points towards Isabell, Ella, and Kevin. I giggle then enter the car to sit next to Ella. The car ride was consistent of rock music and laughing. I felt as they smoked a blunt before they picked me up, but it’s just a guess. I try to smile and be happy, but it’s so hard when you are distracted by someone you can’t be with. “Hey Alexa you seem very like I don’t know quiet.” Kevin blurts out then starts laughing like crazy. I just want the time to go faster to go clubbing. I sigh really loud.

    I can hear the club just a few feet away and my excitement reaches so high.  James parks the car and we all get out and adjust ourselves. I see people line up against the wall talking and maybe doing drugs I’m not sure. I can hear the music blasting and people laughing.

“I.D. please!” The security guy checked it and I don’t know how we still get in. He nods at us for approval to go in. As I enter the lights were flashing everywhere in different colors. Ella grabs my hand and drags me to the bar they have here.We take a seat in some inn stools you can spin on. “Let’s take some shots to get us going for the night.” She smiles and asks the bartender for three shots each. As I am waiting for him to get the shots I turn around and watch people grinding on each other and sucking faces with another.

  I remove the thoughts I have of David and think about partying and having fun. I can do all that tonight. Maybe I will meet… “Here you go ladies!” He places a row of shots in front of us. Ella and I take a glance at each other then at the same time we pick up the shot glass and drink it. When the alcohol traveled down my throat it made me want more and more.

“Last one!” I yelled and I can feel so different than I did in the car. I just want to have some fun. “Whoo!!” Ella blurts out loud. She places twenty dollars by the shot glasses. “Let’s go dancing.”

I love this feeling I feel like I’m on cloud nine. I close my eyes and sway my hips side to side to the music. I can feel it. I feel finger tips rake up my leg. I open my eyes immediately and turn to find a man. “What the hell!” He look like a college guy. He was rather attractive, but not really what I’m into. “Sorry baby, but you’re so hot I couldn’t resist” He says and bits his lips and places his hand on my side. I laugh a bit and back away from him and grab his hand to take it off of me. I walk away until I cant see him anymore. I try looking for Ella, but I see her dancing with another man.

 Alexa just have fun. A random DJ song comes on and I walk over to the guy I just encountered with. I already regret it because he is snogging faces with another girl. What a man whore. My head is spinning and all I can think about is David. David, David, David. “Alexa where did you go?” I hear James voice. I squint my eyes to see his face clear since I’m seeing two of him. “Wait are you drunk?” I laugh and place my hand on his chest. “Oohh that is hard I never knew you worked out!”

I watched him roll his eyes and laugh. “Do you want to dance?” He is so sweet I wish I liked him in that way instead of David. To respond to his question I grab both his hands and walk over to the dance floor. We start moving our bodies and going along with the music but I know if we were sober this would not be considered dancing. I watch him and laugh along with him.

 I look up and the lights feel like they are burning my eye balls off. I look back to James and he places his hand on my cheek. I bite my lip since I got nervous and he never does this. “You look so beautiful right now, you know that right?” He says and rubs his thumb against my cheek. I look down at the floor. “I-I-I don’t think this is right and …” I look up to his eyes and behind him I see my parents and David and Kate.

“And what?” James sound annoyed. My heart beat faster and I’m drunk if my parents see me like this I would be dead they would take me out my school and put me in a public school or ,maybe ground me for a year and make no contact with anyone. Shit. “James my parents are here we have to go now!” I look behind him again and I still feel nervous. “Call a taxi, do you need any money?” In that moment is when David turned around and looked directly into my eyes. I wish I never looked I just could feel his disappointment on me.

I run out and try to get through the crowd of people and when I did I almost tripped since I’m still a little tipsy. Once I’m outside I take a great big breath. I didn’t want to take a taxi that’s gross and I’m drunk right now. I sigh. I scroll through my contacts and wonder who will be up at this time. “What in the world are you doing here?” His voice startles me and makes me drop my phone. “I can explain.” I respond before I even had time to think. I bend down to pick up my phone and see a few scratched, I’m just relived that it didn’t break.

He takes a sip of his champagne and says,” I have time” I close my eyes and open them. “Can you just go back in there and be with Kate instead of me, Now Leave me alone!” Wow. I never knew I had the courage to say that. He watches me like a hawk. “Do you need a ride?” Did he just really ask me that I roll my eyes. “Did you not just hear me, I said leave me… alone.” I yelled at first but said ‘alone’ with my breath.

I look at the cars passing by the club entrance. “Fine!” I saw his eyes lit up and he chuckled. He has his hand on my lower back and I like it, in act I love it. I feels so comfortable and don’t care if I’m going to have a hangover tomorrow.
