Diem Jones Greer beamed as her name was called. She walked across the stage, shaking hands with the principal of the school and accepting her diploma. Montgomery Brown and his father cheered. She'd been staying with them ever since her mom had kicked her out, and now that she was eighteen and officially a high school graduate, she planned to get her own place nearby.

Ryan had to repeat the year. With all of the classes he'd skipped, plus the two week suspension he'd gotten for punching her, he hadn't gotten a "proper education." DJ couldn't help but feel proud. Her nose was a tad crooked, but other than that, she was better than ever. Her mother had stranded her with an angry phone call and had left a pile of her clothes on the front porch. DJ still secretly visited Ariel on the weekends, though, when Emma and Ryan went out on dates.

They were made for each other.

Monty's case had officially gone to court. Apparently there had been a guy in the shower that had heard the whole ordeal and had kept silent until he heard about it. The lawyer Monty's dad had hired said they had a winnable case, but it would be a difficult road. That son of a bitch would likely only get a year or two, but no college wanted a convicted rapist. The least she could do was ruin his future.

Diem joined her boyfriend and his father after the ceremony, all of them smiling and laughing. Both of their lives had been shitty up to that point. Right then and there, though, it was perfect.

And all because of her job at Rodrigo's Pizza Emporium.
