On Monday, Diem entered their high school with a new sort of confidence. She had one target in mind: Ryan Lockheed. Even just the thought of his name sent bile up her throat. He'd pay for what he did to Monty. She would make sure of it.
When her ex was in sight, she leaned against her locker and went scrolling through her text messages. Specifically, her conversations with him. Even more specifically, all of the dick pics he'd sent her. She saved them to her phone and sent them to an "exposing" account on Instagram for their school with the message "This is Ryan Lockheed's dick. He cheated on me and raped one of my friends. Expose his ass, please."
Nerves wracked her body as she tried to prepare for her first class. When she dropped a notebook, a hand reached down and picked it up. She looked up to see none other than Montgomery holding it out to her.
"Hey," DJ said, feeling like her phone was burning a hole in her pocket. She glanced over at Ryan, who was talking with none other than her sister. She laughed at something he said, throwing Deej a snide look. They had the same dirty blond hair and dark eyes, but couldn't have been more different.
"How did you sleep?" Monty asked. He shoved his hands into his pockets, backpack slung over his shoulder.
"Probably better than you," she replied, studying his features with concern. He had deep bags under his eyes. "You could've called me."
"I'm fine," he reassured her, shaking his head and looking away. "We should probably-"
He trailed off then, confusion laced in his features as his eyes drifted. Diem followed his gaze to see none other than Ryan storming over to them.
"What the hell?" he exclaimed. She feigned innocence.
"What ever do you mean?" she asked, tilting her head as a devilish smile spread across her face. Ryan pulled out his phone, scrolling through it, as Monty and DJ exchanged a lock. The former seemed nervous, scared, even.
Ryan finally showed her his phone, and sure enough, there was a picture of his dick on the second slide. He swiped to show the first picture, which was a screenshot of her message with her username cropped out. It wasn't difficult to figure out who it was from, though.
"I know you sent this," he growled, anger evident on his face. She pretended to think it over, tapping her finger on her chin.
"Hm, I guess I did," she muttered, a smile spreading over her face. That smile dropped, though, as soon as Ryan's fist came hurtling at her. It collided with her nose, bringing stars to her eyes and causing her to stumble back. She fell onto the hard tile, head lulling to the side.
Diem heard a commotion, but was in too much pain to look over. What she did see, though, was her sister Emma standing nearby. She looked guilty.
DJ didn't remember much after that.
