When Montgomery pulled up to the street sign of Cornelia Road, just at the mouth of a neighborhood, he found DJ asleep, leaned against the sign. No wonder her end of the line had gone so quiet. He put his car into park, climbing out and walking over to her before shaking her shoulder.
"DJ?"
She blinked her eyes open, hazel orbs meeting his gray ones.
"Addy?"
"Yeah, it's me. Can you get up?"
She nodded defiantly, bracing herself on the street sign. She tried to stand, but ended up falling back down on her butt. It was then that he noticed what she was wearing: frayed short jean shorts with a tight-fitting black tank top tucked into it. He tried not to allow his gaze to linger on certain areas, instead bracing his hands on her back and under her knees before lifting her up.
"Why do you always do that?"
Monty suddenly felt self-conscious, racking his mind for some dumb thing he could've done.
"You're always the one saving me, it's not fair. When can I save you?"
Monty felt his heart rate speed up a bit, a blush lighting up his face as he opened the passenger's side, setting her gently in the seat before buckling her up.
"I'm fine, princess. I don't need saving."
"Everyone needs to be saved sometimes..."
Monty offered her a smile, closing the door and going back around to the driver's side. When he entered the car again, she had fallen asleep once more.
He couldn't help but broaden his smile.
