𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐌 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐃 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐆 behind him. Daniel had decided to actually join the football team. It was short notice but Josie and Lizzie accepted him since they needed more manpower.

“Why didn't you join them?” Greg asks just as a frizzy haired girl passes them, and she smirks, “Hey Greg.”
Liam raises his brow looking at his friend with a confused look.

“Uh, who is that?” Liam questions when the girl is out of earshot. “To be honest, I don't know. Most of Mystic Falls girls hate me.”

“Is there a reason for that? All I can think of is because of Connor,” Liam asks, looking over at Mystic Falls' team. Liam wasn't here last season when they were playing against Mystic Falls High, but Greg and Daniel have informed him that their football team always loses. They haven't one game against the opposite team.

Dr Saltzman had a rule that they couldn't use magic. He understood that because it would basically be cheating, but what he didn't understand is why they had to deliberately lose. If they played seriously, he's sure they would be able to win against them.

“So, how is things between Penelope and you?”
Greg chuckles as they walk over to the bench to take a seat. “It's going. I'm not exactly sure it'll progress any further. Maybe I should give up, you know.”

Liam raises his brow, staring at his friend. The redhead had not once given up, even after Penelope rejected him. It's shocking that he wants to give up. “Why though? I thought things were going great. You two spend most of your time together. Even when I got back, you two were together most of the time.”

“That is only because Penelope likes to vent out her anger. The only person she can do that with is either you or me. Daniel doesn't listen, and Amara likes to interrupt. You weren't here when she and Josie got back together and when they broke it off again, so I was kind of the only one,” Greg tells the Salvatore boy.

Liam didn't know how Greg felt. If he had been in the same situation with Hope, he would've either given up or just told her and moved on. He wouldn't waste his time on someone who doesn't seem to see the person in front of her.
“Daniel told me, yeah.”

Penelope plops down beside Liam with a smile. “We were just going to look for you, where were you?”

Penelope smiles, looking between Liam and Greg. “Nowhere, don't worry.”

The three watches from the bleachers as Dorian, who was acting as head coach in Alaric's absence, gathered the referee, the Mystic Falls' Timberwolves coach, and the starting players from both school teams — Lizzie, Josie, and Kaleb for the Stallions and Dana, Connor — onto the sidelines to kick off the match.

“All right, guys,” Dorian begins, “Let's have a good, clean, entirely uneventful game.”

The Timberwolves smiles smugly at the Stallions like they knew they were going to win today. “Like we do every year when we beat your asses down.” Connor laughs, which made Greg roll his eyes.

Greg groans, “Maybe I should've accepted Josie's offer and joined them, just so I can kick him in the face.”

Penelope furrows her eyebrows in confusion, “Who?”

“Don't worry, Daniel will happily do it for you.”

The teens watched as the referee stepped forward for a coin toss where the team who won the previous year were to call it in the air, they picked tails because according to Dana, tails never fails. The teams got in line to shake hands before the game started, with the Timberwolves getting the ball.
