“This is such a drag!”

Liam pushes the cage towards Greg who's suppose to be helping him. But he was doing no such thing. He was busy on his phone. “You're not doing any work so how is this a drag?” the Salvatore boy asks the ginger boy. Greg glances at Liam with a sigh.

“I'm not in the mood for this and anyway I'm not going so why should I help out?” Greg asks the boy. Amara rolls her eyes before she says, “You don't have another choice. You have to go. This is in honour of Liam's dad.”

“I know but I realized that in order to go to this ball I have to wear a suit. A freaking suit? Like seriously, I don't own one,” Greg rambles looking at Liam who looks bored out of his mind. “That's your dilemma?”

Penelope walks closer to the three of them. “Greg, the school gives you suits for every occasion that there is, how come you don't have any? Daniel has,” Penelope tells him.

“Dude, do you have a suit?” Greg asks Daniel who's placing the rats inside the small box. Daniel looks up, over at them, “Yeah. Dr Saltzman made sure to remind us all about it.”

“When?”

“This morning while you and Liam where over sleeping like always.” Daniel looks between the two boys.

Liam groans loudly attracting their attention. “I'm not going either so I really didn't need to know that,” Liam tells them. He was already planning on not going when he first heard of it, so he wasn't planning on going now.

“You can't not go, Liam. It's your dad's memorial—”

“Yes, my dad's memorial ball. Not mine,” he tells the blonde girl. His mom will kill him but he'd rather her do that then having to really go.
“Liam—”

“I already made up my mind so don't try to change it. It's not gonna work,” he tells Penelope before saying, “C'mon let's get back to work.”
He walks out of the library towards the classrooms where the other stuff were.

“What's up with him?” Amara asks Greg. “I don't know but I think it has to do with the ball. Do you think he hates the idea of the memorial ball?”

“No. Why would he? It's in honour of his dad. He can't exactly hate it.”

Liam looks out over the lake with his headphones on his ears. He just finished putting everything in the basement and now he can finally have some peace and quiet.
Today is his father's memorial ball. Everyone talks about how amazing he was but they didn't know him. They didn't know what kind of person he really was. His uncle Damon acts like everything is perfect that this is just another event for them. But it's not, not to him.

This is about his father. The man he looked up to for so many years. He didn't have as much time with him as he would've wanted to but he at least doesn't want to pretend with a ball.
The Salvatore boy looks down not noticing the girl walking up behind him.

Hope stares at the boy's back while biting her lip. She didn't know if she should try to talk to him since it looks like he doesn't want to. She shakes her head and joins him. She sits down beside him.
Liam glances over at her with a frown. He pushes the headphones off his ears. “Hope? What are you doing here?”

“What? Can't I join you while you sulk?”

“Yes. But it's just weird,” Liam mumbles and the girl frowns. “What's weird?”

“The fact that you willingly came here. I usually have to go up to you just for you to talk to me or even give me attention,” Liam jokes before he asks, “Was it willingly?”

The Mikaelson girl rolls her eyes. She doesn't answer but she does ask, “Why are you here? I thought you'd be inside helping your mom and uncle with the preparations for the ball tonight.”

Liam shakes his head, “Nah. I'm not in the mood for this at all.” Liam turns his head to look over towards where the few students were helping Damon Salvatore with the chairs and desks. They were carrying it towards the hall.

“Why not? I mean, I would've jumped at the opportunity to help. It is in honour of your dad,” Hope tells him. “I know but it feels wrong. My mom, she's still hurting. I can see it in her eyes. She may have moved on but she still misses my dad every day. She's just torturing herself by planning this memorial ball.”

Hope pushes her legs up to her chest. She tilts her head looking at the boy while blinking and giving him a weird look. He notices and frowns but smiles, “What's that look for?”

“Because you're an idiot. You know that right?”

“And why exactly am I an idiot, Miss Hope Mikaelson?” Liam asks sarcastically.

“Your mom she's doing this because she's happy. She wants the memory of your dad to live on. She wants you to remember your dad as a hero. And Liam your dad was a hero,” she tells him. “I wish I could do something like that for my dad but I can't because everyone kind of hated him,” Hope says with a small chuckle.
Liam looks at Hope and he notices the glint in her eyes.

“I didn't. I may not have known him but I thought he was kind of cool, you know.” Everyone hated Klaus Mikaelson but after everything his mom told him about Hope's dad he realized how cool the man really was.

“You're just saying that. . .but anyway, look. . .” Both looks over towards the school where Damon and Lara were now laughing. “Does that look like a woman who's sad? No, she's happy, Liam.”

Liam looks back at Hope. “You should be happy too.” Hope smiles before she stands up and dusts off her skirt. Liam stares up at her, “And make sure you're there tonight.”

“Why?”

Hope smirks and turns to walk but she stops, “Because I'm going and I'll be wearing a dress.”
Liam smiles as he watch the girl walk off. Maybe going to the ball won't be so bad after all.

_______

I know I am actually very late. I'm sorry guys but hopefully I'll start posting more now.
I was busy with college and I kind of had problems logging in.
But I wrote this chapter in just two hours. It's not my best but I at least you all like it.
