“Emilea! Your mother says you need to go home.” My Mum says waking us up.

“Thanks Mrs. B.” Emilea says grabbing her things and climbing out of my window, much to my mother’s protests.

“Now you Missy, start cleaning your room this instant. It is a complete disaster.” She says turning on me.

“I think Mum is part Drill Instructor.” Gavin says walking in.

“No kidding.” I agree.

“GAVIN!!! What have you done to your room?!” Mother screams causing Gavin to run from my room. I laugh to myself until I realize if I don't get my room clean I will have to face her wrath. I turn on my music and do a rapid speed clean before picking up further. My mum comes in around 2 to bring me lunch.

"Your room is great. It passes inspection. Feel free to hang out with Emilea for the rest of the day. I made you a ham sandwich. We are having bubble and squeak for dinner." She adds before leaving my room. I eat my lunch and grab a little rock out of the box by my window. I start throwing pebbles at Emilea's window until she opens her window.

"Hey are you done cleaning?" She asks. I nod.

"What did your mum want?"

"To spend 'quality time' with me before she went to work...ON SUNDAY. Ooh! Tomorrow at 6!" She says very excitedly.

"Will your mums event be done by 6?"  I inquire.

"Yeah, dinner is at 4:50 and I asked to be excused at 5:50."

"Oh, but-"

"Do you wanna come over or continue talking through a window?" Emilea interrupts.

"I will be right over." I say climbing out of my window. As I crawl across the large tree I nearly slip and crawl faster, managing to skin my knee.

"I totally thought you were going to fall." Em says when I am safely in her room.

"I did too." I shudder. I have never fallen out of that tree but thinking about it makes me shudder.

We decide to watch Fired Up again.

"Well, you can't stay long... I have to go to sleep early." Emilea interrupts when I go to put in a second movie.

"Okay. I suppose I can leave whenever." I say.

"I really don't want to go." Emilea complains.

"Did your mum say I could go?" I ask.

"She said it was a FAMILY event. I was like Katie IS family. Hopefully it will be better than I think." She adds making a face.

"Well, if I am being honest, I really didn't want to go. If you come get me, then I will help you get ready." I offer.

"Good, because my mum says and I quote 'You had better look presentable.' I mean what does that even mean? Do I ever NOT look presentable??" She practically screeches the end.

"You always look fantastic." I say swinging one leg over the windowsill I had been perched on.  Emilea rolls her eyes and turns off the light just as I get onto my balcony.

"Katie? Are you back already?" My mum says walking into my room.

"Mum I was gone for like 5 hours..." I say slowly.

"Were you really? Goodness time flies. I just spoke to your father. He said he will be back in time for your party on Tuesday." My mum adds with a smile.

"Brilliant! Did he say how America was?" I ask with a grin.

"He said it is a lot warmer and drier there." She says heading towards the door. When she leaves I am in a much better mood than before.
