Katie’s POV
“Let’s gooo!” Harry moans sounding like a small child.
“Harry. Since you refused to pack anything correctly or even attempted to put it in the backpack I have to do it.” I snap shoving the last thing into the pack.
“Well! You’re the girl!” He exclaims. I turn slowly towards him.
“You did not just say that. Sexist pig.” I growl narrowing my eyes.
“I didn’t mean it like that!” Harry says defensively.
“Whatever. I don’t even care. Can we just go home now? I need to get back to Em. She is my best friend after all.” I point out sending a small smile towards him to take the sting out of my words. Harry smiles over at me and takes the backpack from me.
“I’ll just go hook this on the bike.” Harry says running out of the cabin. I giggle at his antics and follow him out making sure to lock the door behind me. As I am walking down the porch stairs I trip and skid on the gravel.
“Are you alright?” Harry asks helping me up. I look at my shin and am relieved when I don’t see blood.
“Yeah, I’m cool!” I grin climbing over to the bike. Harry shakes his head at me in disbelief. He walks over to the bike and scoots me backwards and climbs on in front of me. I scootch forward and wrap my arms tightly around Harry. He hands me the helmets he had set next to the bike. I struggle to snap it on and Harry smirks before unwrapping my arms and turning it around to clip it easily.
“Thank you, dearest.” I smile pecking his lips lightly. He returns my smile and revves the bike. I wrap my arms tightly around him again and I am amazed that I don’t feel very scared today.
“Ready?” He asks turning his head to face me.
“Ready as ever.” I smile laying my head on his back. He looks at me and opens his mouth to say something and then decides against it and turns back around. I scrunch my eyebrows in curiosity but ignore it. He guns the engine and I am relieved when it doesn’t stall. We continue along the gravel road and we even pass Larson and the woman I assume is his wife. I dare to release one arm and wave farewell at him. He waves and smiles at Harry and me and I clamp my arms around Harry again.
“Don’t let go again!” He orders sternly. I nod against his back and he pulls on the long endless highway.
“Isn’t it cool that there are no cars?” Harry calls back after a few minutes.
“Yes, but I’m cold!” I shout back burying my head back into the crook between his shoulder blades. Harry doesn’t say anything but I notice him signal to pull over and I frown in confusion.
“Here you are darling.” He murmurs giving me his jacket. My mouth pops open in surprise and I melt. I take his coat and he helps me shrug it on.
“You’re the sweetest.” I smile shyly and kiss his lips gently. Harry smirks and I rewrap my arms around him while he gets back on the highway. I loosen my grip and start to enjoy the ride more than I thought I would.
“Harry?” I ask slowly yet loudly enough so he can hear me.
“Yes?” He asks distractedly.
“Harry! That truck is going really fast and swerving. Get off the road!” I shout burying my face again.
“Fuck!” Harry shouts trying to slow the bike down. I flinch as I see the truck get nearer and nearer and am finally aware of the excruciating impact. As the truck collides with the bike Harry and I go flying. Finally I hear the sickening crunch as we hit the pavement and everything goes black.
