Chapter Twenty-six

Liam’s POV

Sunday

“We will need to go to the hospital soon.” Dani says stepping out of the shower.

“I know; I would feel bad if we left Katie, Niall, and Harry at the hospital for too long.” I say handing her the shirt she is motioning for me to toss to her.

“I don’t want to be late.” She murmurs putting on her jeans.

“Late for what?” I ask fingering the small velvet box in my jacket pocket.

“Nothing, why do you look so distracted?” She asks sitting on the bed next to me.

“I have a question.” I say finally taking a deep breath.

“What is it, Li?” Danielle asks standing up to shake out her hair. I take another deep breath and kneel down on one knee.

“Liam?” She asks as she turns around.

“Danielle, will you marry me?” I ask looking up at her.

“Of course I will Liam!” She exclaims as I slip the ring over her finger. I stand up and wrap her in my arms.

“I love you Liam.” She whispers looking incredibly happy.

“I love you too, Dani.” I say kissing her gently.

“We need to get going.” She says with a grin still prominent on her features. I nod and we go downstairs to go out to the car.

“I am glad this is such a short drive.” I say as we pull up to the hospital.

“I know how much you hate car rides.” She says as we climb out of the car. I smile and follow her in the door.

“Hey kiddos! Why don’t you go home and shower!” Dani exclaims as we go into the waiting room. Harry grins and I toss him the keys. He catches them with ease and he, Niall, and Katie head out to the car. I sit down in one of the uncomfortable chairs and Dani walks over to the nurse’s station. They hand her something and she leaves my sight. I get up to follow her but don’t see her when I get around the corner. I look to the left and see the ladies’ room and just go back to my seat. When she comes back in she gives something to the nurse and they exchange words.

“What was that about?” I ask as she sits back down.

“Nothing.” She says blowing it off.

“Dani, what are you keeping from me?” I ask getting a little worried.

“I have an appointment today; it is no big deal Liam.” Dani says squeezing my hand. 

“What kind of appointment?” I ask raising an eyebrow.

“Well, since you asked it is an appointment to say if all the tests were right.” She says with the nervous half smile she gets.

“What tests Danielle?” I ask running a hand through my hair.

“The pregnancy tests.” She says smiling at me. My eyes widen and my jaw drops and she looks nervous.

“You-I- we- baby?” I ask trying to form a full sentence. Dani laughs and bites her lip.

“Yes Liam, baby.” She says slowly and teasingly.

“That is fantastic.” I say pulling her into a hug. I walk with her to the door of the appointment when they call her name.

“You can’t go in there sir.” The nurse says pushing me back as I go to go in.

“This is my fiancée.” Dani says looking at the nurse.

“I am sorry, dear, but only one person can be in here.” The nurse apologizes.

“But-.” Danielle starts.

“No, it’s okay Honey. I will wait out here for you.” I say kissing her quickly and going to sit in the waiting room again. I sit in the waiting room twiddling my thumbs hoping Danielle would be out soon. I sit thinking about the baby. If Dani really was pregnant then I really would be ‘Daddy Direction’. I chuckle at the thought.

“What’s so funny?” Danielle asks coming over to me and rubbing my hair.

“Nothing, how did it go?” I ask standing up so she can sit down.

“It’s a baby.” She says with a smile. I grin back and pull her into my arms.

“That’s amazing.” I say. I try and pull the smile off my face but I just can’t.

“Well we have had an exciting day.” Dani laughs with a smile plastered to her face as well. I laugh and the same nurse from earlier comes over to us.

“Are you the people here for Emilea Blair?” She asks us. I stand up and nod.

“We have some news, but it can only be released to family.” The nurse says. Danielle nods and gets out her cell phone. I go up to the nurse and she explains to me what is going on even though I am not family.

“Hey Harry? Can you get Katie and get down to the hospital as soon as you can please?” Dani asks. She says thanks and hangs up sitting back down. We wait for 15 or 20 minutes and then Katie rushes into the hospital. Dani stops her before she can run into Emilea’s room.

“It’s okay!” Dani says when Katie finally stopped.

“What’s wrong with Emilea?” Katie asks completely out of breath.

“Nothing, they just finished running some tests and she does have a concussion but not epilepsy. She is being released in like 20 minutes.” I tell her making her sit down. Katie gets a big grin on her face and I tell Harry and Niall what is going on when they casually stroll in. Niall gets his very Niall personality back and I smile to myself.

“So what are you doing for Halloween?” Dani asks Katie with a grin.

“Danielle, it is only the 22nd of October. I haven’t the faintest idea.” Katie replies with a shrug.

“Well, you have plans.” She replies.

“Do I?” Katie asks.

“Yep! We are having a Halloween party on the 31st. It is a Friday so you get to spend the whole weekend with us.” She says with a large grin on her face.

“When did that happen?” I ask turning towards Danielle.

“I decided that we should celebrate.” Dani says giving me a meaningful look. I nod and grab her hand. One of the nurses come out and gives us instructions. “Someone is going to need to be with her all the time. The concussion may make her a little dizzy; make sure someone is always with her.” The nurse says having Katie sign Emilea out. Katie does and Niall wraps his arm around her waist so she is sturdy. We walk out to the car and I am extra careful to drive gently so Emilea doesn’t move her head a lot. Niall ends up carrying her up to the flat and I search for my keys to get in.

“Dani? Do you have my keys?” I ask searching my pockets for the third time. Dani nods and unlocks the door. We go in and sit down on the couch while everyone cheers at Emilea for making it home. Katie and Harry immediately retreat to Harry’s room and we start chatting while waiting for the pizza Niall ordered. When it gets here Dani and I grab a piece and excuse ourselves to my room.

“I’m really glad that we are becoming a family.” I say holding Dani close.

“Liam, we already have a family. We are just extending it.” She says closing her eyes. I smile and realize she is right.
