“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!” Gavin shouts with a smiling face. I grin and realize I am a legal adult.

“Thanks pal!” I say ruffling his hair. Emilea raises her head looking like the living dead.

“Oh, Happy birthday girly!” Emilea says putting on a very tired looking smile.

“Hey runt, would you go ask mum when my party is? Oh! Ask her when Dad’s coming home as well!” I add as he nods and rushes out. I throw on my new party dress.

“When did you get that?” Em asks sliding into a pair of jeans.

“Yesterday, Hanna and I went to the mall.” I say with a slight smile smoothing down the beautiful material.

“YOU spent a whole day with Happy Hanna? Gosh that girl’s puppy could die and I am pretty sure she would still smile.” Emilea laughs with a grin.I roll my eyes and am thankful that Emilea has a shirt on, because Gavin doesn’t bother knocking and just rushes right in.

“Mum says the party is at 2 and Dad should be here around 1.” Gavin says happily.

“What time is it now?”

“12….” Gavin says slowly with a sheepish grin.

“You let me sleep until 12 on my birthday?! It’s half over now!” I screech.

“Take deep breaths Katie. Gavin I suggest you run.” Emilea says leading me to the bathroom and plugging in my curling iron.  I apply makeup with Emilea and we have Gavin take a picture of the end product.

“DAD’S HERE!!! DAD IS HERE!!!” Gavin says rushing in only 30 seconds later. I push past Emilea practically knocking her over, and manage to not tumble down the stairs in my heels.

“DAD!!” Gavin says running for a hug. I grin when I see my Dad. He looks very tired and rugged, but still the same old dad.

“DUDDY!!!” I shout also running for a hug.

“Hey birthday girl! How’s my big man!” He says and asks managing a double hug.

“We missed you sooo much!” Gavin and I say perfectly in sync.

“They do that a lot.” My mum says with a smile. Emilea chooses that moment to run down.

“HEY! There us my other daughter. I was worried for a sec.” He adds with a teasing wink. We all laugh and the time we spend catching up flies by so fast that I am surprised when the doorbell rings. My mum gets up and goes to answer the door.

“Hello Hanna! Lindsey, how are you?” My mum asks sweetly. My friends continue to arrive for the next 15 minutes.

“Well I suppose since Katie isn’t six there aren’t party games, but you girls are all welcome to stay the night. You boys on the other hand may not.” She says with a smile eying Noah, Riley, Peter, Stephen, Brendon, and John. We all laugh and my mum uses that time to pull out an excellently decorated cake. We dig in and she gets loads of compliments on the cake. Before long Emilea is insisting I open her present. I open the wrapper to find a One Direction bracelet and a Harry Styles pillow. I squeal loudly and give her a hug. I open present after present most having to do something with One Direction. Finally Gavin hands me his present.

“I, uh, hope you like it.” He says with a small smile. I open the package to see a necklace that says ‘world’s best sis.’

“AWW!! Gavin I love it!” I say giving him a hug. Everyone clears out after that seeing as none of them can spend the night. Not that I am upset by that at all.

“We have one my present for you.” My mum says once everyone is gone. I smile and let her pull me and Emilea towards a small wrapped up box. I rip off the paper and open the box.
