Emilea’s POV

“Emilea, wake up!” Niall exclaims, shaking my arm. I jerk my head quickly and he’s staring down at me.

“Can I help you, Niall?” I question, yawning loudly. Niall gives me the first real smile I have seen in days and I must look as confused as I feel because he elaborates.

“Katie woke up.” I leap up from my chair and race past Niall and I stand in front of the door of Katie’s room. Katie’s mother isn’t in there so I quietly sneak in and stare at her from the door. Her nose is bandaged up with purple butterfly tape and her nose actually matches the color. Her leg has a massive pink cast on it and I notice her ribs are all taped up. Her eyes look sunken in and she looks so tired. The moment she catches sight of me she puts on a big smile and I can still she her sleep deprivation.

“EMMY!” She squeals softly, weakly reaching out to hug me. I run into her arms and feel the tears soaking our faces.

“Katie, how’re you feeling?” I ask wiping the tears off my face.

“I’ve broken myself. How do you think I am feeling?” She teases. I can see the fatigue in her but I don’t care; I just want to keep speaking with her.

“How’s your nose?” I question. She reaches up and winces when her fingers brush it gently.

“It hurts. My leg hurts too. But I have to admit, getting a massive pink cast was pretty rad. Do you know why my torso hurts so much?” She asks, giving another wince as she takes a deep breath in.

“You broke your ribs. Can I sign your cast?”

“I’m surprised you haven’t already.” She admits with a smile. I feel my stomach drop and I know I have to tell her the truth. I wait a few minutes and find a sharpie to sign her cast before I tell her. She grins when she sees my signature and then I open my mouth to give her the truth.

“Your mother isn’t letting me see you. She’s mad. I had to tell her the truth about what happened. She doesn’t want us to be friends anymore Katie.” I tell her, getting sadder and sadder as I continue.

“Oh whatever! My mum is probably just blowing off steam! She cannot honestly expect us to not be friends!”  Katie laughs, blowing off her mother-as usual. I shake my head and jump up when I see Katie’s mother run in.

“Katie!” She yells running at Katie and hugging her gently. After a couple of moments she slowly turns towards me. I gulp loudly and wait for her wrath.

“What did I tell you about speaking to my daughter?” She hisses staring me in the eyes.
