"I'm seriously going to kill you this time." I giggle.
"Lighten up Katie. It's usually your dumb ideas that get us into trouble. It's my turn." My best friend Emilea points out as though I wasn't aware.
"We aren't even old enough to be in here!!" I protest.
"Shh!!! This guy is way to old to realize that!" She murmurs shushing me. I roll my eyes and follow her to the front desk.
"How can I help you ladies?" The old man working the desk asks.
"I-we would like to enter one of your radio competitions." Emilea says making her voice sound older.
"Which competition?"
"One Direction tickets!" I say excitedly.
"For our nieces!" Emilea adds quickly.
"Ah I see. How many entry forms would you like to enter?"
"6!" I exclaim being bold. "That will be thirty dollars."
"Then can do 12 an split the difference?" Emilea asks. The cashier nods and gives us the forms as we fill out the requirement sheet. As we run out of the store Emilea laughs giddily.
"That was great!" I laugh with her.
"Still we just spent 60$!!!" She exclaims. "Yeah. On the chance of a lifetime. Do you know when the drawing is?"
"Yes, next week at 6. Y107. Don't you dare forget!" She says eying me. We both know I can be incredibly forgetful.
"Man if we won! We would get front row concert tickets AND back stage passes!!!" Emilea exclaims linking arms with me. As we walk down the street we both seem happier.
"Where did you park the car?" Emilea asks suddenly looking around.
"Now who's forgetful?" I tease poking her in the tummy. She rolls her eyes and I lead her to where my car is parked.
"We should buy a new outfit to wear to the concert!" I say excitedly pointing to the kohl's up ahead.
"And spend more money? No thank you. My mum is already going to kill me. Why don't we buy one AFTER we win." I nod at her unfailing logic. Since Emilea and I lived next door we always were together. There was a tree separating our windows, but that never stopped us from getting to each others balconys.
"We're having chicken Alfredo for dinner." Emilea says as I pull into my driveway. That was her way of inviting me over for dinner.
"We are having pizza." I counter.
"I'll be over in 4 minutes." She says.
"ENGAGE!!" We shout simultaneously taking off into our houses.
“Hey mom I’m home!” I call heading upstairs to my bedroom. I hear her muffled reply just as I open my bedroom door.
“Gavin what are you doing in here?!” I exclaim yanking my brother away from my heavily guarded laptop.
“Chill I couldn’t figure out the password anyway.” He says raising his hands in surrender. I stick my tongue out at him and shoo him out of my room.
“Hey no need to push!” He says scurrying into his bedroom next door. I roll my eyes at him and shut my own door. Not even two seconds later I was hit in the back of the head as Emilea's bag flew though my window.
“YOW!”
“Baby.” Emilea retorts following her bag in.
“What’s in there BRICKS?!” I shout.
