Katie’s POV
“Katiiieeee!!!” Louis calls loudly, gently shaking my arm with his face just two inches from my face. I inhale sharply and wince from the resounding pain in my ribs. I sit up quickly, well as quickly as a broken little girl can do.
“Is it time?” I ask softly, staring at Louis’s exhilarated face. He nods and helps me climb out of my hospital bed, without hurting my ribs any more than they already hurt. He gives me an encouraging look and we shuffle over to Harry’s bed with me leaning heavily onto him.
“I’m so excited to talk to him again, Lou.” I exclaim, standing against him while the nurses and doctors crowd around Harry. I notice all the needles and tubes and I turn my face into Louis’s shirt until he mentions that Harry is stirring. I turn around and bite my lip with apprehension. Our friends join around us and I notice some of them holding hands with nerves. Harry’s eyes start blinking open and closed and finally he begins to focus on us.
“Hi, Harry.” Gemma says walking around the bed and grabbing his hand. He starts opening and closing his mouth and motioning for water. Someone fetches it for him quickly and soon enough his first words are coming out.
“Guys, where’s Taylor?” Harry looks utterly confused and I cock my head in confusion, and clearly I am not the only one because Harry decides to elaborate.
“Where is Taylor? Swift? My girlfriend? Is this ringing any bells for anyone?” He is looking around wildly and I let out a painful gasp. Harry turns towards me questioningly.
“Who’s that? Who’s that next to Louis and the girl next to Niall? I’m confused.” He whispers, looking truly distraught. I take as deep of a breath as I can and I push Louis off of me. Stumbling around is inevitable at first, but soon enough I scramble to the hallway. Someone is following me and I don’t even care to turn around and check.
“Katie…” Liam’s voice echoes to me and I turn around with the tears in my eyes.
“This is completely awful. Awful, Liam! He doesn’t know me and worse yet, he thinks he is dating Taylor Swift!” I feel my lower lip tremble and Liam comes next to me to hold me up.
“I know, honey, but he’ll remember you soon enough. Plus, Taylor isn’t going to show up anytime soon.” His words comfort me but I still have to ask him.
“Please don’t tell him about me. Let him remember me, and maybe he’ll find me…” Liam gives me an odd look, but nods in agreement. I call my mom and ask her if she can come and try to check me out of the hospital. She agrees and I hunt down a nurse to find me some clothes. Soon enough I am dressed and perched on a bench in the hallway. I couldn’t face going back into that room and seeing Harry.
“Hi, sweetie!” I turn my head and my mother is standing in front of me with a huge grin plastered on her face. I see my dad beside her with Gavin in front and I melt. The struggle to get up is really strong and I am immediately helped by my dad.
“Hey, babygirl. We’ve really missed you around the house.” He whispers, kissing my hair and letting me lean on him. He gets me into the car and Gavin is nonstop talking to me.
“I think I am just going to go to bed when we get home….I’m pretty tired.” I say once Gavin takes a breath from his crazy long monologue. They all nod to show their understanding and my dad helps me get up to my bedroom to sleep.
2 WEEKS LATER
“Hey, Katie…have you been on twitter yet today?” Emilea asks, crossing her legs as she takes up my bed.
“Yeah, and I refuse to let it get to me…on a completely different note....will you go get me a tub of ice cream?”
“It wasn’t that big of a deal…the picture is harmless…”
“It’s literally a picture of Harry cuddling with that dumb bitch…and I have to pretend I am okay. We haven’t even actually broken up yet, Em.” I feel tears dripping down my face. Em pats my back and actually agrees to go get me some ice cream. I lay down on my bed thankful to still have one good thing in my life.
HARRY’S POV
“Hey, guys!” I exclaim, sauntering downstairs the best as I can with my brokenness. They wave at me, but still seem a bit distant. I hear a sigh of exasperation when Taylor walks down beside me, but I choose to ignore it.
“The doctor is expecting you to go check in with him today so he can change prescriptions and check on your brain.” Dani says shortly, before turning to Liam and accepting the glass of milk he is offering her. I feel confused again and Liam pats my hair, and leaves the room with Danielle. The room clears out so quickly that I sit down and Taylor sits down beside me.
“They’ve been acting kind of mean, since I have come home from the hospital…” I tell her, trailing off as I stare into her eyes.
“Yeah, okay. Hey, I was thinking about going shopping today, so I will see you later, kay?” Taylor asks, looking self-absorbed in her own thoughts.
“Alright, I’ll, er…see you later then.” I say, turning away from her as she leaves in a happy rush. I get up and search for Louis only to find him lounging on the futon in my room.
“Lou! Thank goodness…I really need to talk to you.” He pats the seat beside him and I rush over.
“Lou, everything feels wrong. Taylor keeps talking about herself and she doesn’t care and I am just really confused about everything.” Louis looks pained as though he wants to tell me something but then seems to think differently and nods understandingly instead.
“Maybe Taylor isn’t the one for you then…” I am so fed up with people saying that, and I decide to just surf the internet instead of hear all this bullshit.
“Lou, we were on the chattyman show recently?” I ask, clicking on the link and turning up the volume on my phone. Lou makes a run at me to get my phone but I quick dodge him and manage to get it loaded.
“This is the girl from the hospital! How do I know her? I don’t remember…”
