Colson came a little later on during the day, his boss wasn't there so it didn't matter he reasoned to himself. What could he have done sitting around waiting for Pete to finishing briefing nick and Dwayne. Nothing. So it was fine. Instead he got to spend time with his girlfriend, how he got her, he had no fucking clue. But he wasn't complaining, was she out of his league? Hell yeah but they always had hot and heavy sex.He probably shouldn't go around sporting a boner all day, probably lose a bit of respect or maybe he would gain some. Nah he would definitely lose respect. He liked the respect he got, from being a druggie to one of the higher ups in this town. He definitely wasn't going to do anything to lower his respect not after him and Pete had finally done something with their lives and worked hard to be somewhere they were proud of.
"You alright man?" "I'm good, so where we heading?" "The club, did she give you a name of where they went?" "Nah, but there's only five clubs they could have gone to and three of them are out of this town, so we've only got two to check."
The first club showed them nothing, the surveillance cameras didn't show them entering or leaving. It had to be the other club or else they were doomed to a goose chase and quite frankly colson could not be bothered to run back and forth. The police force better be paying him back for the fuel he thought to himself. Gas was fucking expensive, especially in this area where nobody seemed to know of the word poverty. A different world to the one he was brought up.
Pete at least fit in better with the town's people col often felt alienated, alone. Wondering how his younger self would feel amongst these riches, angered at their unselfishness, these lavish mansion and luxury cars empty when there were people who barely had enough for a fucking dollar.
Pete knocked on the window. "Anything?" "Nah, col there's nothing the place is on its way to be shut down. However there is a bar/club like two blocks away from here, so we can check that out before we look at the others" "alright, get in. This better lead to something" "you still taking your pills col" "course I'm taking my fucking pills, don't fucking patronise me I'm not a fucking baby that needs your pity. You know what this is bullshit I'm gonna go home tell me when you find something" "col, calm down I never said that, and I think it's best you do"
Colson drove away, how would Pete know how he feels, no everything had to be perfect like Pete. The kid who did drugs and the same things he did yet he was never looked down on. Perfect Pete.
He needed to stop, this was his best mate, he cared that's why he asked. He wasn't patronising, he was looking out for me. His temper fluctuated up and down, he needed a break. The pills weren't going to help alone.
His girlfriend wasn't home, that was good, at least she wouldn't say something that make him lose his mind and start a shouting match between them.
Those stupid pills didn't do nothing, they didn't help at all, maybe some weed would relax his mind, maybe then he would feel better. He took a hit and let it take over his body. The voices became quiet and a numbness washed over him.
Pete was worried for colson to put plainly, the anniversary of his mother's death was coming close and causing col stress, every year he became agitated and slightly aggressive but he needed to make peace with the death. Pete knew that deep inside of col he knew there was no way he could have stopped his father from murdering his mother and then shooting himself. He had only been 7 and had an alcoholic as a father. Every year he tried to get col to visit his mother's grave but every year he was met with backslash despite it hurting him over and over again, if he never made his peace with the death he could never have peace.
He walked till the bar/club. During morning hours it was a bar but as the night progressed it would turn into a club but it had a calmer vibe. When asking to see to the security footage he found the girls enter and be served but like Isabella had described she left soon after. Roughly an hour later, Ellie returned. The footage outside the club wasn't any help as it showed her pass but move to stand in a camera blind spot. He received copies of the footage the club had and went to the shop beside it to view their footage.
At first it was hopeless however when the camera shifted it showed Ellie on the phone for a while talking and laughing, then a guy came and the two began to talk. The conversation started to get heated, with the guys back turned it would be hard to see who it was. It seemed that the conversation reached a breaking point as his arms moved to wrap around her throat, pulling her up slightly. After a minute, he finally let her down and she bent over trying to gain oxygen into her lungs. The guy pulled up his hoodie and walked away.
After asking if there was any sound to which there wasn't he gained the copies and began to make his way to the station. There had to be something which could help him, but without sound he could guess what was being said or identify a voice.
He replayed the videos over and over again. Nothing. All he knew was Isabella and Ellie had come and placed their orders, Ellie received a call, one which was happy, he would have to wait for the phone to be back from the cross examination to see the caller and if they might help, someone came and the conversation became heated to the point where his hands were around her neck, he left her and walked away.
Pete began to wonder if this had any relevance at all with her death, from his view he was threating her, to scare her but not kill her. So could she know something about someone which they wanted her silence but how did it tie into her death.
The security footage showed her drop off her friend, take some medicine and go to her room. What was he missing? And why did he feel like he knew the hooded figure, Pete had a gut feeling he had seen him but he was not sure.
He looked at the clock, it was nearing 12 and he really should go home but Pete felt he had to watch it one more time, so for his own peace of mind he watched the video setting the video at 0.25 speed to see if anything could be a clue.
He watched the person's hand move to grab her neck, his hoodie being pulled back to reveal a tattoo but only ever so slightly. He continued watching the rest of the video.
Tomorrow he would call Isabella, ask her a couple questions and maybe she could identify the person
(Hey, so in terms of colson you can sort of see the stress get to him which causes his outburst and annoyance at Pete. This is not healthy and if you struggle with an issue talk to others preferably a professional)
