Sana In A Quandary

Sana could see shock, hurt, fear and anger for some moments on Sid's face. He then gulped and looked away. Sid then looked at her and Sana tried to weigh his reaction.
Sana: Siddharth....
Sid: Tere ex husband ki Maa....
Sana: Haa....
Sid: Ok....
Sana: Baby, bahot bimaar rehti hai vo aur akeli hai. Mai usse every month paise bhejti hu aur ek ya do baar call karti hu.
Sid nodded his face grim.
Sana: Siddharth kuch bol....
Sid: Ab isme mai kya bolu, yeh mujhe samajh he nhi aa raha hai Jaana. Kya bolu, kya reaction du. I'm confused and I'm shocked.
Sana: Mujhe pata hai baby.... Par mai majbur hu. Unka iss duniya me koi nhi hai mere aur Zoro ke alawa.
Sid felt like a knife was stab in his chest. Sana was that lady's son's ex wife. But Zoro was nothing to her. Why does she have a claim on my son. Sid thought feeling jealous. He knew he was being unreasonable. An old lady who has no one in this world, loves his son. What is wrong in that?? Stop being so selfish Siddharth, his heart told him. You are not raised in this manner. She is a mother, like yours. So don't bring any hate for that woman. Sid told himself firmly.
Sid: Chalo theek hai. Jo bhi hai.
Sana went closer to him and sat on his lap. He pulled her closer out of habit.
Sana: Siddharth kya tu mujhse naraaz hai??
Sid: Nahi Jaana bilkul nhi. It's just.... Pata nhi.... Chod...
Sana: Siddharth mai tujhe batana chahati hu....
Sid: Zarurat nhi hai baby. Chal dinner karte hai. Bhuk lagi hai...

Sid lifted his head up and took her lips with his. His kiss was urgent and he suddenly stopped. But Sana continued kissing him, reassuring him through that kiss that she is only his. And Sid gave in.
Sid was restless at night too. He had made passionate love to Sana putting in all the emotions in it and Sana had too reverted with same intensity. He lay taking her in his arms, but Sana could feel him not at peace.
Sana: Siddharth..... Baby..... Kya hua hai??
He pulled Sana closer.
Sid: Pata nhi Jaana mujhe bahot ajeeb sa feel ho raha hai.

Sana tried to sit up, but he pulled her to him again.

Sana looked up in his eyes, her fingers stroking his cheeks.
Sana: Siddharth....Mai yaha hu aur yahi rehne wali hu. Mai kahi nhi jaa rahi hu. Tu bilkul tension mat le. Ek buddi aurat hai, kamjor, mazlum hai, usse Mai sirf help kar rahi hu. Iske alwa aur kuch nhi hai.
Sid: Sach na baby??

Sid and Sana were having breakfast, when Sunita came to them.
Sunita: Didi aapse kuch puchna tha...
Sana: Ha ha bolo na Sunita??
Sunita: Didi, Maa aayi hai gau se. Kya mai jaau unse milne??
Sana: Tai aayi hai?? Kab aayi vo?? Sunita tum ne mujhe pehle bataya kyu nhi??
Sunita: Aaj subah aayi. Mujhe bhi nhi pata tha. Acchanak aa gayi.
Sana: Kaha aunty ke yaha hai na??
Sunita: Haa.
Sana: Siddharth mai office se aate aate unse mil aaungi. Thoda late ho jaayega.
Sid: Nahi Sana. Hum dono chalenge. Mujhe bhi milna hai unse. Sunita tumhare Maa ne Zoro ko tab sambhala jab vo bahot chota tha. Mai unka zindagi bhar ehsaan nhi bhul sakta.
Sunita: Bhaiya...
Sid: Zindagi me tumhe kabhi bhi koi cheez ki zarurat ho to tumhara bhai hai yeh tumhare liye.
Sunita: Thank you bhaiya.
Sana: Sunita tum jaao.
Sid: Aur haa Sunita, driver se bolna vo chod aayega.

It was late in the evening when Sid and Sana had left from Sana's office. Sid had been there too. He had a meeting with the creative head regarding the promotion of the show. The meeting took a little bit longer as they were difference of opinion. Sid was speaking to Arun in the parking lot of Sana's office, whilst waiting for her.
Sid: Arun, I won't bend. Make that very clear to them. Shooting is a different thing and promotion a totally different issue. I had never complained on what flight they booked or which hotels they made us stay. But about the promotion thing, I won't compromise.
Arun: Yes, yes boss. You don't worry. I know how to handle them.
Sana walked to them and they turned around.
Sana: Kya ho raha hai??
Sid: Arun tum chalo.... Kal ka schedule mujhe bhejo.
Arun: Sure.... Bye ma'am....
Sana: Bye.... Accha suno Arun....
Arun: Yes ma'am??
Sana: Tum na mujhe Sana bulao. Ma'am nhi...

Arun looked at Sid and smiled. He smiled back.
Sana: Bye Arun.
Sid opened the door of the car to Sana and she climbed in. He too sat in the driver seat and drove out of the office building. Sana looked up at Sid to find him a bit upset.
Sana: Kya hua??
Sid: Kuch nhi...

Sana stroke his arm.

They entered the flat and was warmly welcomed by Mahi's mom. She was a wonderful and loving lady like Mahi.
Sana: Di bhi aa rahi hai na Aunty??
Aunty: Ha beta. Vo Tara ko ready kar rahi the, jab maine call kiya tha. Abhi aati he hogi.
Sana: Accha. Aunty Tai kaha hai??
Aunty called for Tai. A woman in her late sixties, clad in a blue cotton saree, came out in the hall. Sana ran towards her and hugged her. She hugged back. Sid saw her hands were shivering.
Sana: Tai.... Kaisi ho aap. Ab tabiyat kaisi hai aapki??
Tai: Mai thek hu. Mera chota sa Zoro kaisa hai??
Sana: Aapka Zoro ekdm thik hai. Ab vo bada ho gaya hai, aur badi badi baate karne lag gaya hai.

Sana turned around and saw Sid standing and looking at them with a smile on his face.
Sana: Tai, inse milo, yeh hai mere pati aur Zoro ke papa.
Tai folded her hands and wished him.
Tai: Namaste Saab.
Sid came forward and Sana took a step back. He took Tai's both hands in his and looked at Sana.
Sid: Sana tumhaari Tai to bahot khubsurat hai yaar. Sunita tum bilkul apne Maa par nhi gayi.
They all laughed and Tai turned pink. Sid then looked at Tai, with gratitude in his eyes.
Sid: Thank you, thank you Tai. Aapne mere bacche ka itna khayal rakkha. Mai kya kahu. Agar mere layak koi bhi kaam ho to batana. Aapka yeh beta zarur usse karne ke liye apni jaan laga dega.
Tai: Aree sab aise kuch nhi hai. Vo baccha itna chota tha, par usne mujhe kabhi bhi pareshan nhi kiya. Jaise vo jaanta tha, ke meri Maa ko kaam karne ki zarurat hai, aur mujhe unhe pareshaan nhi hone dena hai.
Sid felt tears form in his eyes.
Sid: Sunita ek glass pani pila do please..
Sana understood what Sid was feeling and so she stroke his back. He looked at Sana.
Sid: I'm sorry Jaana.
Tai: Sana baby, tum Zoro ko nhi laayi??
Sana: Aa raha hai Tai vo. Hum dono office se aaye na??
Sana looked at Sid.
Sana: Are you ok??
Sid: Hmmm.
The doorbell rang and Sunita opened it. Mahi entered with Tara. Sana ran to her and pulled Tara in her arms.
Sana: Hi meri gudiya.... Kaise ho aap??
Little Tara gave a broad smile to Sana. Sid had gone and hugged Mahi. Sana knew he has not totally recovered from what Tai has said.
Mahi: Tum log kab pahuche??
Sid: Abhi thodi der pehle.
Mahi: Tai se mile??
Sid: Haa... I feel so guilty knowing you all were there to help Sana raise my child and I was wallowing in my own grief thinking it was the biggest one in the world.
Sana: Siddharth....
Mahi: Dekh bhai, Tu nhi tha, kyuki uss waqt Zoro ka sath tere kismat me nhi tha. Aur ab Sana aur Zoro ka sath, teri kismat me zindagi bhar ka hai. It's destiny playing it's games, buddy. So chill.
Sid: Hmmm. And I always wonder ke Jay ne aise kya kiya ke tu itni samjdaar ho gayi.
Mahi slapped him on his arm and they laughed. Tara laughed too.
Sana: Isse dekho kaise hass rahi hai. Aapko kya samjha??
Tara laughed again.
Sana: Hai mera baby...
Sid went and kissed Tara on her cheek.
Mahi: Sana ab dusri Tara lane ki tayari karo...
Sana: Di....
Sid then bend to Mahi.

Mahi slapped him again and they all laughed. Sana phone buzzed and she told Sid to attend it.
Sid: Zoro aa gaya hai niche. Mai usse le aata hu.
Zoro entered the house met Tai and ran to Tara.
Zoro: Hi Tara...
He kissed Tara and started playing with her. He then turned to Sana.
Zoro: Mama I miss Tara. Kya hum isse apne ghar nhi le jaa sakte??
Mahi: Zoro aap apne mama, papa se kaho ke aapke liye dusri Tara le aaye...
Zoro: Dusri Tara?? Vo kaha milegi??
Mahi: Vo.... Apni mama se pucho...
Zoro: Mama...
Mahi: In fact aap ek kaam karo aapke papa se pucho....
Zoro: Papa dusri Tara kaha milegi??
Sid: Vo... Vo... Mujhe... Mahi.... How I would like to kill you.... Mahi bata na...
Mahi: Sana Tara ko bhuk lagi hai. Chal andar chalte hai.
They both left the room laughing, leaving Sid with Zoro and his questions.
Jay too joined them later. They had dinner and returned home. Tai had expressed her desire to marry Sunita off and had asked Sana and Sid to hunt a suitable boy for Sunita. Sid had promised he will definitely keep an eye.
Two days later, it was Sunday afternoon. They had finished lunch. Sid and Sana were watching "Harry Potter And the Prisoner of Azkaban" with Zoro. Sana's mobile rang. It was Maaji. Sana could feel Sid go rigid next to her. She picked the mobile and went to the terrace. She knew Sid was uncomfortable about this. But what can she do?? She has been taking care of this old lady for past six years and she can't stop now. Sid will have to understand. She felt.
Sana: Jee Maaji??..... Aap aise ro kyu rahe ho??.... Aap pani pe lo.... Bittu bhaiya kaha hai??.... Unse baat karvau??..... Ha bittu bhaiya..... Kya hua hai?? Maaji itna ro kyu rahi hai...... Bhagwaan.... Kya bol rahe ho.... Bittu bhaiya mai aise achanak kaise aa sakti hu..... Maaji se baat karvao...... Maaji aap rona band kare..... Maaji..... Mai kaise...... Theek hai dekhti hu mai..... Sana disconnected the call and sat on the sofa. She had tears in her eyes. This poor lady has gone through so much in her life. And now this. She heard footsteps and saw Sid enter the terrace. She wiped her tears and Sid saw it. He rushed to her, sat on the sofa next to her and took her in his arms.
Sid: Jaana?? Kya hua?? Tu ro kyu rahi hai??
Sana: Siddharth..... Maaji ko cancer detect hua hai. Last stage...
Sid was silent for a long time.
Sid: Sana unko dusre bacche.....
Sana: Nahi.... Vo ek he tha.
Sid didn't know what to say.
Sid: Chal andar chalte hai.
He stood up and pulled her to him. He kissed her forehead and led her inside the house. Sana was quiet the rest of the day. Sid was there with her, but he let her be.
Sana was totally confused about what she should do. Maaji wanted Sana and Zoro to come and meet her. But she knew how Sid's reaction is going to be and she doesn't want to upset him. Sid had fallen asleep and Sana walked out of the room to drink some lime water as she was feeling giddy. She was in the kitchen lost in thoughts when Maa appeared. She looked at Sana's tensed face and raised her eyebrows.
Maa: Kya ho raha hai??
Sana: Kuch nhi... Ajeeb sa feel ho raha hai.... Maa??
Maa: Hmmm??
Sana: Mujhe aapse baat karni hai.
Maa: Ha bolo??
Sana: Yaha nhi... Aapke kamre me chale??
They went to Maa's room and Sana closed the door. She sat next to Maa on the bed.
Maa: Kya hua hai beta??
Sana: Maa... Rohan ke Maaji ka call aaya tha aaj.
Maa: Rohan??
Sana: Mera pehla pati...
