Juvia and Gray were pretty restless last night but reality began to settle in as the group began their intensive training regime at dawn in a secluded area on the beach reserved just for them. Erza blew the whistle wrapped around her neck, and everyone stood in a single line.
"I hope you all made the most of your vacay, because our battle with Phantom Lord is not over. You're going to be waking up every morning at this time doing sparring warmups with a partner of your choice. If I come back seeing any of you slack off, ALL of you won't have breakfast. UNDERSTOOD?"
"Yes m'am!"
Erza's stern expression eventually melted into a smile, confusing everyone if they should be tense or relaxed.
"Alright then. I'm gonna grab some breakfast. FIVE STAR EVERYONE so you better not slack off! I'll know," She replied sternly before heading out.
Once she left, everyone ran to their desired sparring partner. Natsu and Gray naturally gravitated towards each other - more like their throats. Lyon watched them from a distance, waiting until it was his turn to spar with either one of them. From the looks of it, he wanted to avoid both. Lucy paired up with Juvia, Wendy with Meredy. The girls could not stop ranting about the movie they watched last night. Juvia laughed awkwardly until Erza popped in not a moment longer.
"You're DA BEST ERZA haha!" Natsu shouted, grabbing the first serving.
"Oi. Don't take everything flamebrain!" Gray growled, swiftly grabbing some after him. Everyone followed suit leaving Erza and Juvia to pick up the last servings.
"Let's leave these idiots for a bit, Juvia. I've been meaning to talk to you privately," Erza chuckled, happily placing a dollop of whipped cream from her strawberry waffles in her mouth. She saw how much Juvia started to sweat. "Haha. Don't worry, you're not in trouble,"
"Oh no. Juvia is sorry if it seemed like I was nervous," Juvia whimpered, even though she was scared for a moment. The girls sat down in lawn chairs not quite far from the training grounds, looking out into the blue horizon.
"Are you going to spill the details about what happened between the two of you last night here?" She questioned sneakily, almost making Juvia spew out her breakfast.
"E-Erza-san!?" She shrieked, covering her extremely red complexion.
"I mean, from the looks of it, you both were enjoying yourselves. The lighting from the fireworks was also perfect. You both were gleaming as you went for each other," She pressed on, seeing how her new recruit started to shrivel. "All teasing aside, I don't think I've ever seen Gray smile like that before. Ever since you arrived here, you've completely revealed a different side to Gray. And I wanted to personally thank you for that,"
Juvia smiled. "You know Erza-san, Gray-sama did the same thing for Juvia. I've been alone most of my life, besides Gajeel-kun and father. Juvia was also afraid of reaching out to other people because I was always known as the rain woman who would bring gloomy weather whenever Juvia was near others..." She then placed her plate beside her, taking Erza's hands into hers.
"Because of your kindness Erza-san, I was able to make new friends here... and fall in love with the one who makes me so happy. Juvia doesn't know how to express this gratitude properly but-" She was interrupted by Erza's enveloping arms wrapped around her.
"You're a part of our FTA family, Juvia. There's no need to thank us," She said softly, feeling Juvia embrace her tightly.
From a distance, Gray caught a glimpse of them. He breathed a sigh of relief seeing how close Juvia became with everyone. He wanted to capture this moment, this feeling, forever. Natsu was shivering as he gazed in Gray's same direction, knowing from experience that getting an embrace from Erza was a death sentence.
