Chapter 18: I'm Here With You

Gray activated a portal that they went through, going back to the boardwalk where they ate last time for Juvia's recruitment celebration. Juvia closed her eyes for a brief moment and inhaled the salty air. Gray looked at how the wind blew through her hair, seeing how free-spirited she is. Her presence was so mesmerizing to him, making it much harder for him to hold back 0_0. 

"Juvia..." He muttered softly, so softly that she didn't hear him. She caught him staring, making her blush. 

"Gray-sama?" She asked nervously. Gray snapped back to reality and cleared his throat. 

"Yeah, aherm. Let's just...um..." He stuttered before walking further. They went to a small diner not too far from where they went last time. It was a Sunday so it was almost jam-packed but luckily, Gray made a reservation. Juvia was all jittery inside, catching Gray's attention as he was skimming through the menu. "You good there?"

"Juvia has never been able to eat at a diner before. Father didn't want me to eat so much junk food haha," She said excitedly. Gray tried to contain his laughter and how innocent she was. 

"There are healthy options you know," He mentioned, pointing to all the vegetable and fruit options. 

"Gray-sama....I just want to eat something unhealthy for once..." She whined. 

"It's not like you need my permission," He chuckled. Juvia reddened again (yes I know she blushes a lot LMAO) and hid her head behind the menu. 

"Then Juvia will order french fries and...." She mumbled. Gray's cheeks flushed as the waiter walked over to their table. 

"Welcome to Sorcerer's Diner. My name is Kagura and I will be your waiter for this evening. May I offer you some drinks to start off?" The waiter asked. 

"I'd just like coke with extra ice," Gray answered, noticing that Juvia was still hiding. He pushed her menu down slowly, just enough to see her beautiful blue eyes. "Juvia?" 

"Ah. I'm sorry. Um... I would like a vanilla milkshake please!" She said cheerfully. 

"Coke and a vanilla milkshake. Coming right up," The waiter noted before walking away. 

"You're such a child Juvia," He laughed. 

"Gray-sama....that was mean...." Juvia pouted, sinking back further into her chair. 

"There's nothing wrong with that. I think it's adorable," Gray responded. Juvia almost fainted. 

"Gray-sama called me adorable!? Okay, Juvia will act like a kid then," She said happily. He was absolutely amused with her giddy attitude that he almost forgot why he wanted to have dinner with her. 

"Juvia. We need to talk about, you know..." Gray began with a quieter tone. Juvia realized what he was referencing and cooled down. 

"Juvia knows...did you talk to Erza-san about-" She really didn't want to say Bora's name out loud. Gray understood and interjected. 

"I did. I'm not gonna lie to you. We're all getting on edge and time is running out. I convinced her to gather up all of our recruits and trainees. I have to speak with Natsu and Lucy after about training double time with the other students. That goes for us too," He detailed. Juvia nodded and clasped her hands together on the table. 

"Juvia really wants to defeat him..." She murmured, starting to tremble. Gray's eyebrows furrowed, feeling guilty that she wasn't prepared for their encounter.
