"Hey Sora, can i ask you something?"

"Yes, go ahead Akari," Sora answered, glancing at the girl who had offered her family and home to her before looking back at the lake in front of them. Sora wasnt the type to answer questions, but in a way she felt in dept to her and her family.

"Well i was wondering... why did you leave the demon slayer corps?" Akari asked, fiddling with her fingers, nervous as to what Soras answer would be. Soras breath hitched, and she looked at her lap. "I'm sorry! i shouldn't have asked such a personal questi-"

"I don't know why i left. They were all like a family to me, and they accepted me. Then i just left one day; i walked away without a warning or note of any kind." Sora whispered, tears pricking her eyes. She wanted to go back. Sora desperately wanted to go back to her friends and beg for forgiveness, hoping they would accept her back as the rainbow hashira. "I'm.. I'm sorry, i need to be alone." She mumbled, grabbing her sword and getting up to walk away.

"I hope one day you get to see them all again, Sora! You deserve to be happy, after all." Akari shouted to Sora as she walked away, not looking back nor acknowledging what Akari had just said.

'Do i really deserve to be happy? I let so many people die. I was weak, and all i did was stand in fear as i watch the wretched demon kill and eat them all.'

When Sora was in her earlier years of being a demon slayer, she was still weak. Sora had gotten made fun of for her small physique, despite the fact she used a rare and thought to be extinct breathing style. The other slayers among her rank, and even higher ranks laughed at her, sometimes for no reason at all.

Sora had thought she had no reason to be a slayer if she was weak, so she left and went back home. There was a skilled swordsmen in her village who had trained many slayers before, so when news got around that Sora had quit, he showed up at her door step. He offered to train her, and Sora hesitantly agreed.

Sora was a quick learner. She learned how to properly assess a situation, how to follow fast movements, and so on. She was better and stronger than before.

When Sora went back to the corps a year later, she was welcomed back. But when the people she had worked with in the past saw she was back, they all got mad at her. They all called her a good for nothing, and a weakling.

Then they all had a mission to do. A demon in a nearby forest had been eating up any civilians who went sightseeing, and they were all to slay it swiftly before any more casualties.

The demon was strong, and in a matter of minutes all of her fellow slayers were being knocked down and killed. She stood in fear, her hands shaking as she gripped her sword, watching the demon eat all of them.

She cried. All she could do was cry. Even if those same people were rude to her and put her down for being "weak" she still cried for them. She mourned their deaths, and wished she were stronger. If she were stronger she would have been able to protect them before it was too late.

In the end she managed to kill the demon who had eaten all of those slayers, but she still had the sight of their dead bodies appearing in her dreams. That was the first time shes even witnessed people dying, and it was traumatic. She was only 16, and no one should have to witness death at a young age.

Present time

Sora climbed up a tree and sat on a branch, taking deep breaths to get rid of the panic attack she was having. She was sweaty and her hands were shaking like crazy, her heart felt like it was going to pound out of her chest and she was getting really dizzy. Soras attempts at calming down had failed, and her breathing was uneasy and short.
