Chapter 13

"Are Tanjiro and the others okay as well?" Sora asked, sitting fully up. She looked around and saw Tanjiro laying on the ground.

"Yes they are all fine. Tanjiro stopped his bleeding using total concentration, and Inosuke is helping everyone along with Nezuko and Zenitsu!" He smiled, and Sora nodded. For some reason she still felt as if something was off in the air.

"Do you.. feel that?" She mumbled, looking around. She could sense something off, and it was getting stronger. Her stomach churned with anxiety as she looked around, confused. Rengoku looked at her with slight worry, but he too could feel something was wrong. "Something is going to happen, Kyojuro.."

A loud crash was heard behind Rengoku, and they both looked to where it came from. Her stomach sunk when she saw it; upper rank 3 was standing right in front of them.

He wasted no time and lunged for Tanjiro, but luckily Rengoku was able to use flame breathing to save him.

Sora stood up, no longer feeling dizzy or out of it, and she un sheathed her sword. She stood next to Rengoku, examining the upper rank in front of them.

He bounced back away from the both of them, healing his injury almost immediately.

"Nice blade." Is all the demon said, licking blood off his hand. Sora shivered in disgust, eyeing Tanjiro to make sure he wasn't injured. As Rengoku kept his eye on the demon, Sora helped move Tanjiro back more so he wouldn't get hit in the crossfire.

"Now why would someone as powerful as you attack the wounded first?" Rengoku asked, still making eye contact with him.

"I thought he might interrupt the conversation we're about to have." He said with a smile, and Sora moved back to where Rengoku was.

"What are we going to talk about? This is our first time meeting, but i already hate you."

"Of course. I also hate weak humans. When i see weakness, my skin crawls." He sighed, and Sora rolled her eyes.

"You and i have very different values."

"Aha.. then i have a great idea. Why don't the two of you become demons?" He said with a smile, and Sora raised her eyebrow at him. She hadn't even spoken yet.

"Hmm.. no, thanks." Rengoku pretended to think about it, but shot down the idea almost immediately.

"I can tell both of your strength by looking at you. You're both a Hashira, correct? You've both developed your fighting spirits to the edge of perfection."

"I am the flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku." He said, and Sora stayed silent. She didn't like the idea of a demon knowing what breaths she used until they were fighting.

"I am Akaza." He said, before looking at Sora. "who might you be, girl?"

"Sora Niji, the rainbow Hashira." She sighed, not caring anymore. Its not like she had much of a choice, given they were going to be fighting soon.

Akaza looked at her with curiosity, eyeing her carefully. Muzan had told the 12 kizuki about how there was a person who had mastered rainbow breaths, but he couldn't figure out who just yet. He smiled, now knowing valuable information to bring back to his lord.

"Hm. Let me tell you both why your power will never truly reach perfection. Its because you're both humans." Akaza said, pointing at the two of them. "Because you age. Because eventually you'll die. Become demons, Kyojuro and Sora. If you do.. you can train for hundreds of years and keep getting stronger."
