The sound of the FaceTime ringtone woke Karin up from her sleep.
She was laying under the covers in a hotel room in Miami. Her and Chris had just landed this morning but Chris had a meeting to attend so Karin decided to go to sleep.
That was all she was able to do every since she found out who her birth mother was the night before.
Her heart was full of rage knowing that someone that close to her could lie through their teeth about something as deep and intimate as that.
She groaned as she reached for her ringing phone on the nightstand next to her.
"Hi.." her voice was scratchy from the dryness of her throat.

"Hey baby. How you feeling?" Chris asked knowing the answer wouldn't be good.
"Umm. Not so good I guess. I honestly wanna stay in this bed for the rest of my life ..." she sighed.
She been crying nonstop. She cried herself to sleep last night. She woke up crying. She cried the whole plane ride. She cried herself to sleep again once she got to the room. Her body was numb. The lump in her throat wouldnt disappear. Her eyes are swollen and puffy.
"Well you can't do that. So what can I do to help? I'm sorry I drug you out here while your going through this. And I wish I didn't have to leave you there by yourself ."
"It's not your fault. And I'd rather be here with you than at home..." her voice trailed off.
"Are you hungry? I can bring food back with me. I'll only be gone for a couple more hours." Chris asked.
"No im fine." She lied.
"Kay, you haven't eaten since who knows when yesterday. You gotta eat something.
Karin didn't have an appetite. She didn't even wanna move from the spot she was in. Only thing that would force her to eat is the fact that she planned on drinking an entire bottle of tequila and she would hate to do that on an empty stomach.
"Chick-fil-A is fine." She settled.
"Okay, I'll call you when I'm done. I lo-" Chris cut his self off almost letting words that he's never said to her slip from his tongue. He bit down on his bottom lip. "Uh. I'll see you later."
Karin was so out of it she didn't even notice his slip up. She hung up and fell back down on to the bed. Still on her phone she went to her messages that she had been ignoring all night and day, deciding if she wanted to respond to anyone.
She had a few messages but one caught her eye from Jayda.
