"So like what's the deal with the album? It's bout to drop right?"
Chris sat with N.O.R.E and Dj EFN for a Drink Champs interview to discuss his upcoming album set to drop at the end of the week.
"Yeah man we finally done , everything is being finalized as we speak."
"It's been a long time coming." NORE stated.
"Yeah but Chris so iconic he drop like every 2-3 years. Dj added in.
"He really got some nerve." NORE teased and they all laughed.
"Nah man, I been working on this project for a little over a year, and to be honest I got stuck at one point, lost my direction and my motivation so it was like damn, I gotta get my mind right before I can continue cause imma always put my best forward, I'm not bout to just release some shit rushed just cause I wanna put something out I always spend time making sure everything is right."
"You know how rich you gotta be to just sit on music for a year? Like this nigga be chillin unbothered." NORE laughed causing the other two to laugh as well.
"It not even about money that's why it's never rushed. Like it's for the fans and I never wanna disappoint, imma perfectionist to a extent and I feel like my fans know how I am with my music so they don't be trippin."
"Plus ya catalog so large and your projects be so lengthy it really hold up."
"Facts." Chris agreed.
"Okay so you have a new girlfriend right? So what percentage of this album is about her? Cause we know how you get whether it's breakup , a toxic relationship , whatever, you gon sing about it til there's nothing else to sing about."
Chris busted out laughing. "Yeah so around the time I had started working on the project I met her, so my inspiration was definitely shifted. So some of the earlier songs I did was about her. Then you know she had, well she stopped fucking with me... so I ain't gon lie I got stuck. Like I was in love so I wasn't tryna do no heartbreak joints that's not what I was feeling. Like I did a little bit of like 'I'm sorry' joints but I had lost my way had some writers block. So when we rekindled it really helped me wrap things up."
Everything Chris and Karin went through flashed through his mind like a movie. It was a long bumpy road but he can't lie that it really helped developed some amazing songs and she deserved her props for it in his eyes.
"So percentage wise you'd say what? 100? 95%?" NORE redirected back to his original question.
Chris laughed, "Like ummm. 75 I'd say. Like even if it's not a song about her, they way she made me feel still inspired it, if that makes sense."
"Okay, so this relationship isn't as new as people think? Like y'all been together and broken up and got back together? I'm lost man."
"No we just got together like officially recently, everything before that was i don't know, dating. But now that's my girl." He smiled shyly.
