Her heart was beating furiously, as her silhouette shifted along the horizon, tracing the clouds, a thin golden haze of light lined her periphery, as she dived amongst the beams of beryl sunshine. For once, she felt liberty. She felt youth, and she felt the haunting memories slip away. She would start anew. The past is the past- no need to worry about it anymore. Tears pricked her eyes, threatening to fall, but she shook her snout. Her wings snapped open as she dived towards the sparkling waters of the ocean. Cerulean shimmered as the cool spray of droplets showered her wings and she skidded to a stop on the golden sand. Sabina was a dragon of age 18, quite young for a dragon. She had the powers of firebreath and camouflaging scales, and a unique gift of healing and teaching. Now, it was herself that needed to be healed from her scarred past.
Walking into her newly built hut, the smell of timbre sent shivers of familiarity down her wings. She glanced around, at the rising sun, and breathed a sigh of relief and once again curled up in her comfortable, cosy nest. Sabina stared at the moon which was silently creeping away and realised that dawn was her favourite part of the day. A new fresh day was about to begin. She wasn't scared anymore- she had a new start. She nodded off for a few minutes, sleeping peacefully under the folds of her soft sheepskin blanket, then jumped up. A duck was roasting on the campfire from yesterday night, and she plucked it off the stick with eager talons. She was soon digging into the tender, exquisite meat, taking neat, short bites. Soon, only bones were left, and she dug a hole and then discarded the bones inside.
That was when she saw flying shapes in the distance, flapping smoothly in the rose gold sky, as if searching for something... or someone. Sabina quickly went back into her small room again out of pure terror, but after they winged away into the distance, she bravely came out again, and with a squeal of joy, rushed into the sea. The welcoming waters swished around her scales.
Many dragons found it weird that a fire-breathing dragon would have such fond memories and passionate feelings for the ocean, but she had always had a close connection with water; she was born beside the ocean, after all!
As she frolicked playfully in the tranquil, gentle waves, the wind changed direction. Just as her future would. She had no idea what was in store for her, and what role she would play in the future.
She could only wait and see...

This is an author's note, because I just decided that maybe they aren't so bad. So in case you don't like them, I'll just try to make it short. This is about my class of 30, and my teacher, Mrs Heinrichson (Sabina in this case). I hope you enjoy it, and don't be scared to comment and give feedback! Oh, and voting would be nice too. Anyway, see you in the next chapter!
