Only the yellow and blue dragon with the scars had been called away. Sabina's plan hadn't worked. Calvin looked towards Justin, waiting for instructions. He looked thoughtful, before saying,
"We take out that guard and sneak in."
"What?" Calvin exclaimed. "The castle guard? Do you have any idea how strong he would be?"
"We can do it. We have to. It's only a matter of time before the other one comes back."
"Okay. " Calvin said, sighing.
"Go!" Justin cried. All 15 of them leapt out from behind the bush and tried to fight the guard as quietly as they could. Up close, Calvin could see that this guard was young. Perhaps even in training. He certainly looked frightened by them. The guard swung his tail at them, but they just jumped over.
Amauteur.
With their claws and teeth, the Shade of Dusk were able to defeat the guard. It was a surprise that he hadn't shouted out for help. After that, they snuck into the castle. There was nowhere to hide. They knew that this was where the Queens were going to meet, because there was a table and three chairs. What were they going to do though?
Xiaowan whispered to them.
"I think if I try really hard I can share my power of invisibility with you. I think it's stronger now."
Oh yeah. Using a power made it stronger.
"Alright, I'm going to try now."
Xiaowan put her wing across Justin's wing, and Justin put his wing across Calvin's, so he did the same to the dragon next to him. He could feel the power in him. But 15 dragons? Could Xiaowan do it?
He looked down at his talons. Wait- what talons? HIS TALONS WERE MISSING! It meant that the invisibility had worked on him, but it still felt super weird. He looked around. There was no one to be seen. Good.
They waited in silence for the queens to enter. They did.
Calvin was right in front of them. It felt REALLY WEIRD that they could not see him. He almost wanted to laugh, but obviously he couldn't. They began talking, so Calvin listened, trying to store everything into his brain box.
"I think that it is far too late in the afternoon to be discussing these important matters. At this time I usually have a nap to recharge my batteries," one of them said.
"Oh alright, how about we reschedule?" another said.
This was strangely friendly. Didn't Sabina say that they were strongly against each other and were on the brink of declaring war?
"Oh yes, I think we should meet in the castle garden. It seems like a wonderful place. Tomorrow at sunrise?" the third said.
"Tomorrow at sunrise," came the two replies.
Then they got up and walked away. Just like that. They had gone through all that AND THEY HAD TO COME BACK AGAIN? That was SO UNFAIR!
Xiaowan lifted her wings and they all became visible again.
"Quick! Make a run for it!" Justin whispered. They all bolted for the entrance. Calvin bumped into the scarred guard as he ran out of the castle, afraid of getting captured. He heard him yell, but he didn't chase them.
"Looks like we'll have to go back again. Let's head back to the hut." Justin said.
So they did.
