Hi guys, great to see you again! It's actually my birthday today! Yay! So this is like a bonus chapter for today. And I know, you guys probably aren't going to know when my birthday is because none of you are following along with this book (that's my fault, for updating inconsistently.) I decided maybe we could do some sort of schedule, like I post every Sunday, or maybe have some extra chapters done in between? What do you think? Sorry, I'm quite busy right now. Anyway, enjoy this chapter!
The ocean breeze was on her face, the sunset sky glowing orange. She closed her eyes, relaxing in the wind. Wingbeats up above.
Eyes opened.
Dragons? No, dragonets.
She quickly counted. There were 30, and they seemed to be without parents. She could hear them jabbering away.
"Who left the meat out?"
"It wasn't me!"
"Well, now where are we going to live?"
"Look! Down there! We can ask her for help."
Sabina started to back away. 30 dragons coming towards her was quite frightening. She wanted to go back inside her hut but something inside her stopped her. She stood still as they landed on the beach beside her.
A dragon pushed someone forward. She could hear him whisper "Go on, Jacob."
"Uhh... hi. I'm Jacob. This is the Shade of Dusk, or Talons of Flight."
Someone in the crowd of dragons shouted "Shade of Dusk!" before being elbowed by the dragon beside him.
"No, we're two SEPARATE groups!" Some other dragon shouted.
"Yeah, so, um," Jacob continued. "Our living quarters were, um, infested with rats very suddenly, so, um, we have nowhere to go so we were, uh, wondering if, uh, you could provide us with some shelter?"
She saw a purple dragon roll her eyes at Jacob.
A blue dragon elbowed in at the front of the crowd as well.
"Hi, I'm Justin. I'm the leader of the Shade of Flight. I apologise for our suddenness and lack of manners. We don't know your name." the dragon said.
"Oh, well, I'm-" Sabina thought. These dragons were strangers, and she had learnt not to trust strangers. But they were kids as well, who claimed to be homeless. Some instinct told her she had to help these poor dragonets.
"I'm Sabina, and you can all stay here for as long as you like."
"Thank you!" Jacob and Justin said at the same time before giving each other stares. Obviously they had something to sort out, but that was none of her business. For now, she would let them squeeze into her hut and stay for a day or two. Then they'd be off and out of her life.

It turned out that they had to expand her hut a considerable amount for them all to fit. There was this really big dragonet who could lift a whole tree with only his right arm. He was probably Aaron. She knew because the first thing Jacob said when they needed to start construction was;
"Aaron, gather some trees!"
She supposed he may have had the gift of super-strength. Once they had about 10 trees one of them used some sort of magic to expand the house with them. She must've been an animus. Those dragons were very rare, and were corrupt most of the time due to their power. This one didn't seem to be so, although she was still young, so that might have been why.
As the days passed the group of dragons talked with her. She learned that they were, in fact, two groups. One of them accidentally told her about how they ran away from mean dragons and lost their parents. She knew because the clumsy dragon immediately covered his mouth and mumbled "whoops." She could tell that these dragonets had a lot of potential to be great dragons. They were mostly kind to each other, and worked well together, even though the two groups sometimes had disagreements and there was a constant debate on who should be the overall leader.
They stayed for longer than she had expected. They had spent weeks with her, and whilst a part of her wished that they would move on, some of her didn't. She felt like she was useful, like she was helping these dragonets a great deal. Plus, she liked all their personalities, such as Aiden's constant need to market something or Jonathan and Edric's constant need to beatbox something they could bop to. And then, there were these two dragons that caught her eye. They were working in unison. And, they were the perfect match for each other.
Callum. And Claire.
Yay, a ship! If you're in my class and reading this, please don't judge. Haha. Also I'm trying to do a cat emoji: =(*'.'*)= or =(0.0)=?
