The next morning they woke up hours before the sun did so they could get to the castle before dawn. They set off immediately. If they wanted to defeat the queens, they needed to know what they were going to do. After that, Isabella had no idea what they, as dragonets, could do. She assumed that Sabina had something in mind.
It was still confusing how Sabina had escaped from the big, scary guard, who they were told was named Peter. How did she manage it? Misha was obviously allowed to go because she was a spy, but how could she be? Isabella was just glad that she was locked inside the hut with a couple of logs blocking the entrance.
Justin's shouting cut through her thoughts. They were high in the sky, so no one could hear them.
"Alright. We are going to try a different approach this time. Xiaowan recently discovered that she could share her invisibility powers with us, which I wish she had realised sooner. We'll become invisible, sneak into the castle garden, and stay there to overhear the queens' conversations. Then, after learning where they'll be when their troops are all at war, we can attack them whilst most of their castle guards are at war. At least, I hope it will work that way."
Isabella was 100% sure that Sabina had made him memorise that. It was too complicated.
"Right," Sabina said. "We're nearing the castle now. Xiaowan, we'll land at the edge of the forest so that you can use your power."
They did, and Isabella became invisible again. It wasn't as weird this time. They couldn't fly anymore, since their wings had to be touching, so they walked all the way to the garden behind the castle.
There, they found Misha, talking to the queens.
The traitor.
Xiaowan lifted her wings and they all became visible. This was so that Misha could see the anger on their faces. Isabella growled. Everyone did. The queens ran away. Guards surrounded them, but Isabella didn't care, because right now they needed to get rid of Misha. Not kill, they couldn't do that, but chase her away for eternity. She never wanted to see that traitor's face again.
Misha didn't say anything, but there were tears in her eyes. She picked up a leaf from the ground. It was orange, even though it wasn't Autumn.
"They were going to kill you with this leaf. One of them has magic, but isn't an animus. She's a sumina, the opposite. She can use her magic for dark purposes and dark purposes only, but it is not very strong. She had just enough to enchant this leaf."
She paused, and sobbed.
"If I touch this leaf with anyone in the Shade of Dusk, you will all die."
Isabella felt guards grab her arms. She tried to struggle free, but they had an iron grip. Peter stepped forward, facing Misha.
"Perhaps you'd like me to do it? I doubt you can bring yourself to."
Misha paused. She slowly extended her talon, about to put it in Peter's outstretched palm.
But she pulled it back.
