Chapter 3- Zain

He was flying, the wind rushing under his wings as he had always wanted it to do. His siblings were crowded protectively around him, and Zain finally found the freedom to stretch his wings. He had always wanted a real family, and although the Shade of Flight had done an OK job at that, this was what he had truly dreamed of. Everything was at peace, and as Dusk fell, he swooped between the streaks of pink and blue, leading his sibling down to an island he had spotted.

They settled down, his siblings teaching him how to make a campfire, how to fish, how to make a simple bed, and how to make a hammock. In return, he taught his sibling how to crack open a coconut, and they shared it, tasting its sweet, sticky juice with relish, and biting into the palatable, chewy meat.

They spent the rest of the night celebrating as much as they could with what they had. This was probably the best night Zain had ever had in his life. He couldn't look forward to tomorrow.

But even as his thoughts slipped by, he couldn't hide the fact that he did miss the Shade of Flight group. He missed his friends. But his siblings made up for all that, he reassured himself. Deep down inside, he knew what was probably inevitable- the fact that he was likely to never see his friends again.

So as the happy memories flashed in his head, he slipped into a sleep of fun, protectiveness, independence and happiness.

He had quite a bright future ahead...
