"That was such a freaky movie!" Stella shivered, wrapping her arms around herself as we made our way through the campus, still feeling the aftereffects of the horror film we'd just watched.

"At least it had a happy ending," Tecna pointed out, her tone calm and rational, and I nodded in agreement, grateful that the night had a light at the end of the dark tunnel.

"Yeah," Bloom added, a grin tugging at the corners of her mouth, her white teeth flashing in the moonlight. "Nothing brings a family together like having to fight an evil demon, a horde of zombies, running from explosions, and surviving a massive tidal wave!" Her voice had a playful edge, as if she were still reliving the excitement of it all.

"And yet my parents are still separated," Stella giggled, though we all knew the humor was forced. I exchanged weary glances with my friends, the reality of her words hitting a little too close to home for all of us.

Flora, walking slightly ahead, furrowed her brow in annoyance. "That movie scared me. Can we please stop talking about it?" Her voice was sharp as we entered the school building, the sound of our footsteps echoing in the empty hallway as we made our way toward our dorm.

"Hey, remember that scene when she was locked in the chamber with that slimy ghost thing?" Bloom asked casually, ignoring Flora's obvious discomfort, causing her to glare at Bloom.

"Bloom!" Flora snapped, her voice filled with exasperation, and Bloom immediately realized her mistake.

"Sorry, sorry!" Bloom apologized quickly, her shoulders hunching slightly as she looked at Flora with a sheepish smile.

Suddenly, Tecna stopped walking, her body rigid as she listened intently. "Hold on!" she called, making my eyebrows furrow in confusion. "Did anyone hear that growling sound?"

"It was probably Kiko's stomach," Bloom laughed, gesturing to the little creature, who looked like he might vomit at any second from the overload of gummy bugs he'd devoured. "He scarfed down all those gummy bugs."

"Suuure, it was Kiko who ate all the candy," Musa teased, her voice full of amusement, and Bloom's laughter bubbled up even louder than before.

"It was!" Bloom protested, her voice light and airy as she tried to defend Kiko, still grinning from ear to ear.

"Well, I'm off." I yawned and stretched, my exhaustion hitting me all at once as I opened the door to the bedroom I shared with Stella. "Good night, everyone."

"Night, darlings," Stella said, her smile small but warm as she waved to the girls. We entered our room, the familiar comfort of our shared space wrapping around us like a blanket, and changed into our pajamas before collapsing into bed.
