He may have talked too soon.

"Taehyung... Taehyung, wake up." The boy shuffled in his sleep as he heard a hush voice calling out to him.

He groaned lowly before turning around to face up and slowly peak his eyes open. He saw the face of Sister Chae looking down at him with an apologetic smile.

"Chae noona...?" Taehyung sat up, rubbing his tired eyes and turning to see that the sun wasn't out yet. Why would she be calling him at this hour?

"Good morning Taehyung. I'm sorry for waking you up so early, but I need you to follow me. Please be careful to not awake the other children."

As told so, Taehyung made his way out of the bedroom, careful to not stumble on his own feet and cause a ruckus that could wake the rest up.

He followed the nun to the main floor and down a large hallway. He recognised this part of the place. It's were he was taken the first time he got to the orphanage.

Sister Chae opened a very familiar door and signaled him to enter. Confused, Taehyung entered the head nun's office and was met by Sister Kang and two other people.

"Ah, Taehyung, please come in." Sister Kang said, motioning him to step closer.

Still a little sleepy, Taehyung walked up to where the two figures where seated at and was met my a couple smiling at him.

"Taehyung, I would like to introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Kim. They have seemed to have taken a liking to you and would like to adopt you."

Taehyung froze for a second.

Wait, what?

These two people, whom he has literally never even met before, wanted to adopt him?

What kind of sick joke was this?

First of all, Taehyung wasn't sure about suddenly getting adopted by strangers. His former foster parents always had some type of knowledge and connection to him just as he was familiar with them. The way they decided to act after the papers were signed was another thing, but at least he had previous knowledge of who was going to adopt him.

But these people, he had never seen them in his life.

Second, he wasn't an expert or anything by the way, but he was sure he had enough experience to know how the adoption process went like.

Adopting a kid took a lot of time and legal requirements, to which it can take months or even years to adopt a child.

No one can just enter an orphanage, choose a kid of their liking and walk out with them just like that. They weren't toys, they were humans and they still had rights that should be protected by the law.

So he definitely was one hundred percent baffled when Sister Kang told him that he was leaving immediately.

"They recently adopted another child from here and we still have all valid documentation that their living conditions are acceptable for a child to live in. And since it hasn't been long since their previous adoption, we are still keeping monthly reports that the child is living well and comfortable with them."

What?!

He was pretty sure that wasn't how things worked. Not because someone had recently adopted someone meant that they should just skip the whole procedure if they want to adopt another child. They couldn't do this! Could they?

However, Taehyung didn't have a saying on this and was sent to retrieve his stuff without disturbing the sleeping kids.

That would also mean, no goodbyes.
