Chapter 12 (Forgetting to Kiss)

(Alex POV)

I walked into the small restaurant of Uncle Pete and saw him standing there with a petite small lady

"Ah Alex you made it" I heard closing the door and saw him walking towards me
"Uncle Pete I couldn't miss it" I said smiling
"Let me introduce you to Ellie" he said guiding me towards I know now is Ellie
"My dear this is Alex I told you about" he said to the women holding out her hand and a bright smile on her face
"Oh goodness it is so nice to finally meet you" she said giving me a hug
"So nice to meet you to Happy birthday" I said to her handing her the gift
"Oh dear you didn't have to" she said and I smiled
"I couldn't come empty handed and it's something small" I replied
"That is really thoughtful of you thank you but where is Massimo I thought he was coming with you?" she asked and the words got stuck in my throat honestly I didn't know he just disappeared which was awfully familiar with me and didn't even think to pick up the phone and say hey I will be ditching you at the party

At that moment the door opened...
"Ah there you are Massimo I was just asking where you were" Ellie said walking past me but I didn't want to turn around I was afraid I didn't know for what but I just stood there

"Sorry got stuck with work" his voice was still the same as I remembered
"Geez son on a Saturday" Uncle Pete was the one to reply now and that was when I decided to take a deep breath and turn around. As I suspected his eyes were on me and it grew wide he quickly composed himself and walked over to me

"Sorry if you will excuse me" I said to them walking away before he could reach me

Yeah I now childish but I wasn't ready and to think of it this seemed like a bad idea now coming here because this was his family but it seemed right at the time maybe because I wanted to see him. I got myself a glass of champagne and walk to the outside, today was really beautiful and sunny day as I looked up at the sky

"Alex" I heard behind me and I closed my eyes
"I know you are mad but-" I laughed
"Mad? Why would I be mad?" I asked as he stood next to me and I looked down to his face. He looked different he looked more stressed, and he had stubble that just appeared through his chin
"I forgot about today and I forgot-"
"About me, I figured but hey no hard feelings right? I am easily forgettable" I said with a sweet smile turning to walk away he grabbed my arm and made me look at him
"Alex I'm sorry I really had a lot to think about and I was so busy with work" he wanted to start but I cut him off with my hand
"Please Hayden you don't have to explain to me I'm here so it doesn't matter" I said as he dropped his hand from my arm giving up and I walked back inside. I felt hurt all over again maybe this just wasn't meant to be maybe if I started working with him we could just have a working relationship it would be for the best. Ha for him but not for me I thought this was going to be harder than I thought

"Okay guys gather around" Uncle Pete announced and everyone gathered around them
"I wanted to thank everyone for being here old and new friends including family, today is not just a special day for Ellie but for me to, we have decided to renew our vows for our 50th anniversary" everyone erupted in applause and I smiled looking up at Hayden who was looking back at me
"So we just wanted to thank everyone for being here and making this day more special please feel free to grab some drinks and snacks afterwards we will be having dinner so let party begin" Uncle Pete made a funny voice and we all laughed breaking away from each other

We all had a nice time and chatted I got to know Ellie a little bit more, they renewed their vows which was really special and then we had dinner. After a while people started to leave I made my way to Ellie and Uncle Pete

"Hey guys I just wanted to thank you this was really amazing" I said to them and Ellie pulled me in for a hug
"Oh my dear Alex thank you for coming, I know Massimo can be a little stubborn sometimes but give it time and don't give up" she said and I looked at her weirdly
"We know how it can get" Uncle Pete said also giving me a hug
"Thank you again" I said

"Please come again Alex I would like to show you around" Ellie said to me and I laughed
"That would be nice" I replied pulling on my jacket and walking out towards my car

"Alex wait" I heard Hayden yell and I stopped turning around
"I don't think I have anything left..." I was about to complete my sentence when Hayden's lips crashed to mine, I at first didn't expect it till my mind registered what was happening Hayden was kissing me, Wait I was being kissed by Hayden just before I could respond he pulled away, he must have sensed that I didn't kiss him back because I was still running my head over this.

"I'm sorry" he said as his hands dropped from my face and he walked away

I was standing there looking into nothingness and just then my fingers came up to my lips. Hayden just kissed me was so confused at that moment because I was still mad at him for not calling me and then he did this now I didn't know anymore. After remembering I was supposed to get into my car my feet automatically made it way to drive home.

4 Days 6hours and 35 minutes still counting

that is how long is has been since Hayden kissed me, Sunday when Amanda and Jamie came over I didn't know how to react well I reacted on instinct

Flashback

"Honey we're home" Amanda yelled as they entered the door
"I'm in here" I yelled sitting on the couch replying the whole kissing thing in my head
"Hey usually you greet us at the door what's up?" Jamie said but I was too deep in thought
"Oh um the ceiling" I replied both Jamie and Amanda looked at each other
"Okay we bought juice, lettuce and Hayden" just when he said his name my head snapped to his
"I knew that would bring you back to us. What's the matter?" Jamie asked again and I spilled it
"Hayden kissed me" I said but more I wanted to cry which I did
"Hey, hey don't cry it's a good thing isn't it?" Amanda asked and then I cried more
"No" I tried to get some breath
"Because I didn't kiss him back" I finished Amanda sat next to me
"Oh honey that's not good what happened?" Jamie sat on the other side of me and I told them

"You see I was so mad at him I didn't even noticed he kissed me until he pulled away" I cried again
"Maybe he didn't realized that you didn't kiss him back" Jamie responded and I laughed
"Yeah Jamie and my name is not Alex it's what he told me after he pulled away 'he was sorry' or was he sorry because I didn't kiss him back?" I asked and Jamie had a thinking face
"Now if you put it like that" I started crying again
"Jamie" Amanda hit him over the head
"And the worst part is I am starting there on Friday" I replied
"Well this calls for doctor wine" Amanda said holding the box wine up
"Why a box you guys you know I don't like the box wine?" I said
"Because they didn't have your brand and the others aren't as good" Jamie said in a disgusted face
"And usually one or two bottles isn't enough for all of us well mostly you" Amanda added in which I laughed

End of Flashback

Yeah so that was how it went that Sunday, after that I told myself I will not cry over a man again I drowned my sorrows and now I was just going to focus on my work. I was sitting at my desk with the agreement in hand when Damon Entered
"Ah Miss Alexandria I see you are preparing for tomorrow, good I need you to be sharp and ready for the next upcoming months" He said and I just nodded he saw that I wasn't really in the mood for his comebacks or remarks he just left me. Tomorrow is Friday and it was the day I dreaded but at least it was a Friday I had my own office where I would work. I looked at the time and saw it was already past 8 at night. I really should start working my times, I switched off my table lamp but before I double checked that I had everything

And then I was ready to go home till tomorrow
