Chapter 24 (A Job Well Done)

When Hayden got back he looked worn down but when he saw me his mood lit up

"God I missed you" he said giving me a mind blowing kiss
"Didn't hear a lot from you and I expected you yesterday" I said as we pulled away
"Yeah sorry about that everything was just so hectic I ended up staying another night just to make sure it was going according to plan but I will make it up to you" he told me and I smiled
"As long as you're here now that is all that matters" I said to him taking a seat on his couch in the office
"Everything went well? " I asked
"Surprisingly well thank you are you ready for your presentation tomorrow?" he asked me and I blew out a breath
"Don't remind me" I said as he stood up from his chair and took a seat next to me
"Is everything okay?" he asked me and I looked at him
"What if I mess up? What if I forget my words?" I started but Hayden cut me off
"You will do well Alex besides I have seen what you were doing since you came here and I am more than impressed already" he told me sincerely
"Are you sure I can't back out now?" I asked him as he laughed
"Oh no you don't I'm not the only one counting on you" he said taking my face in his palms, it felt comforting having him back
"I missed having this talks with you" I replied leaning into his hand

"I almost forgot to tell you Damon told me that maybe if everything goes well I might be getting a promotion" I said and Hayden looked proud
"That is good news you see you have something to look forward to" Hayden settled and I smiled
"Yeah we'll just see till tomorrow" I replied standing up
"If everything goes well would you like to have dinner at my place say Thursday night?" he asked me and I smiled
"I wouldn't miss it" I replied while he stood up just as I was doing the same he turned to me again giving me a longer kiss than he normally would

The next day came too soon I was a mess, sweating and trying to make sure everything was perfect I was already in the boardroom setting everything up and placing the folders on the tables as Hayden entered with Damon

(Hayden POV)

When I entered the boardroom with Damon I saw Alex standing in the front looking nervous as hell I walked up to her smiling
"You will be great, just take deep breaths and think before you speak" I told her as she did take my advice taking deep breaths. I took my seat next to Damon and saw him looking at her

"Alex nice to see you have prepared so can we get to it?" he said and I really wanted to punch him there, didn't he have any fucking dignity to treat her better as I saw how she worked her butt off for him, I don't know how she could work for someone like him I looked at Alex just in time to see her roll her eyes and I smiled

There's the Alex I know

"You can start whenever you're ready" I assured her and she took a deep breath again and started with the presentation

1 and half hours later...

"So as you can see by the folders I placed in front of you all numbers, blue prints and the newest contract is all set we only need the final statement than the development can begin" Alex finished as Damon and I took the folder going through all of her work

I was more than impressed she really did outdo herself with all of this; her hard work did pay off in the end

"But how do you know more or less what the final product will be?" Damon asked her and she smiled
"As you can see on pages 24 and 25 I listed all the possibilities of the end result including all the numbers in which it would cost, once the development has been finalised the final contract can be drawn up and you will have the complete and final product waiting to be used" she finished still smiling

"Well I must say Miss Knight I am impressed, even with the blueprints you went out of your way to make sure that this development could begin in just 2 or 3 months" I said and she nodded her head
"That is my plan Mr. Blacc" she replied and I gave her a nod
"Well then if Mr. Blacc here is happy with all of this then we can set up for the final agreement?" Damon said and I stood up
"More than happy once this development is up and running then we can celebrate" I told them and Alex smiled
"Thank you Mr. Blacc, Mr. Colton I will make sure that this goes accordingly and I will keep you updated with any new changes" she said proudly

"Well then I must get to my other meeting Alex I will keep in touch, Mr. Blacc I will see you when this final agreement has been made" Damon said stretching out his hand I shook it and he left the boardroom
"I am impressed" I told her and she started picking up the papers
"I am glad then we can finalize the last lose ends then everything can begin" she told me but she seemed off
"Hey don't let Damon get to you" I told her taking her hand as she looked at me with those brown eyes of hers
"Oh no I never let him get to me it's just..." she stopped
"What? Alex you can tell me?" I told her honestly
"It's just when all of this is over then I will be going back to my old office then what?" she asked and I knew what she meant so I just kissed her softly on the lips pulling back I looked at her
"Then the development begins, you will be traveling to see that everything goes smoothly and you will be seeing me each day" I replied and her eyes lit up
"Hayden what are we?" she asked out of the blue and I stood there I really didn't know I was starting to like having her around and I didn't think I would be able to not have her in my life, I mean when I went to San Francisco I could only think of her now when she voiced those words I still didn't know what we were.
"What do you want us to be?" I asked her and she had a thinking face

"Ask me that again when I come over for dinner" she said as I smiled kissing her passionately
"I can't wait" I replied

She pulled away after a few seconds of kissing me and hit me softly on the chest,
"Mr Blacc this is a workplace, behave yourself" she said jokingly and I laughed
"Like I told you before, what the boss doesn't know"
"Yeah, yeah" she interrupted me as we both walked out of the boardroom when we came to the top floor we saw Jane sitting working away when she saw us she stood up, you could see there was a small bump starting to for on her belly
"Jane you look beautiful" Alex told her as she blushed
"I'm not even that far along and I feel like I'm getting fatter" she said and I laughed

"How did it go?" she asked looking between me and Alex
"Well I told her that everything was off" I said till I felt another hit against my chest
"Hayden! It went great Jane" Alex replied looking back at Jane
"Just because of Alex we will be starting the development in just a few months" I said and Jane smiled
"That's great news" she beamed giving Alex a huge hug
"I am so happy for you" she told Alex again while she laughed

"Now then back to work" I said as Alex gave me a glare
"Yes boss" she said and I gave her a warning stare back then smiling so she could know I was only joking. We went back to work as I kept on thinking about Alex, what were we really? I also didn't know but I knew one thing I was falling for her and I couldn't imagine spending a day without her

I was in love with Alex, I smiled at that thought
