Chapter 25 (Special Night)

Thursday night came Hayden told me James would pick me up at my apartment by 7 and I was nervous, I didn't know what I was going to say if he asked me the question again. What do I want us to be? What did I want us to be?

I heard a knock on my door taking me out of my thoughts and knew it was James when I opened it was Hayden himself
"Hayden" I said shocked as he smiled
"Sorry I forgot I gave James the night off so I thought I might pick you up myself, these are for you" he said
"It's fine" I replied

"Are you ready?" he asked me and I smiled
"Yes" placing my hand his hand going to his car. The drive was a familiar one to me as I remembered the day Hayden was sick when we arrived at his house the place once again took my breath away
"I still can't believe this is your house" I said and he smiled
"I got it just after my father passed but decided it needed a little freshen up" he replied while I stepped out of the car
"It really is beautiful here" I said still looking around me and at the landscape
"Yes you are" I heard him reply taking my hand as I laughed walking me to the inside

When I entered the lights were dimmed he took my jacket and purse from me and lead me to the living room out to the balcony. When I saw what he did my hands flew to my mouth and I wanted to tear up
"Oh my God Hayden this is beautiful" I said looking at the thousands of fairy lights around the balcony with a table set up for two by candle light
"I'm glad you like it" he said showing me to my seat
The night was beautiful and surprisingly warm with all the stars shining down on us

"This is just wow" I said again and he laughed filling up our glasses with wine
"I wanted to do something different so I decided it was a beautiful night why not enjoy dinner outdoors" he replied and I smiled
"I'm starting to think you're growing soft on me" I said while he handed me my wine I took it and looked back at him
"Only for you" was his reply
"Here is to more beautiful nights like these with you" Hayden said and I smiled wider
"I'll cheers to that" I said

Everything was already placed in front of us as Hayden told me to dig in

"Did you make this?" I asked taking a bite of my delicious pasta with cheese and sauce
"No actually I asked Nancy if she could prepare this for us it is one of my favorite dishes and besides no one can make it like her" Hayden replied and I laughed
"Well I think I just found my slice of heaven I will have to thank her when I see her" I replied moaning again I could see Hayden's eyes darken every time I moaned
"Sorry" I apologized and I cleared his throat
"No need to apologies as long as you enjoy it" he said looking at me again when I was done he brought out the desert I looked at it and then at him
"It's Italian kisses ice cream on the inside and chocolate on the outside" he explained and I smiled
"Sounds amazing"
"Try it" he said to me as I took a bite of the desert
"Mm this is just wow" I said savoring the sweetness of the chocolate mixed with ice cream

"Okay yeah no" Hayden said as I looked at him not understanding what he meant then he moved over to me and kissed me on my lips he pulled away and I looked back at him
"You had a little melted chocolate on your bottom lip" he simply replied and I laughed
"You could have just told me" I replied laughing
"Where would the fun in that be" he said to me still sitting close to me

We ate our desert while talking about everything there was to talk about until Hayden stood up and held out his hand for me

"What are you doing?" I asked
"I want to dance with you" he said while I took his hand standing up he placed his hand on my back while the other was holding my small hand in his
"Without music?" I pointed out
"Just dance and imagine there was music" he told me guiding me while we just swayed it really felt great to be like this

I placed my head on his chest again hearing his heartbeat beating faster
"Are you nervous?" I asked him looking back up
"Only when I am with you" he told me
"I am glad I'm not the only one" I replied honestly so I did the only thing I could think of
