"Hey kid-" Rossi greeted Cameron as she walked into the office with her usual smile, pausing when he saw the splint cast on her wrist, "-so... it's 'not a big deal' is it?"
She followed his gaze and sighed, "so it might be a little more bruised than I initially thought..."
"And by 'bruised' you mean..."
"Dislocated" she spoke quietly as placed down her things at her desk with her good hand, pulling her almost empty coffee cup out of her bag and savouring the taste as she sipped it.
"I really think that you should tell-" Rossi tried to say but she hushed him when the others walked in.
"Good morning my dears" Morgan smiled at them, pausing when he saw Cameron's wrist, "woah- what happened?"
Cameron prepared herself for the lie she had been rehearsing in the mirror all weekend to try to cover up the sickness that threatened to climb her throat.
"Radomir accidentally pulled me over on a walk and I landed funny on my hand" she said, keeping her head down and trying to look as not guilty as possible.
"Jesus, I told you that you should get a dog walker for him" Morgan seemed to believe her as he sat down.
Hotch, who was walking by and listening in to the conversation, on the other hand did not and paused when he spotted her try to hide a swallowing of her sick.
"Johnson- a word?" He asked, walking over to his office, Cameron pausing and looking over at him before nodding.
Hotch stopped at the door when he saw Erin Strauss stood in his office, turning to him just as Cameron walked up the stairs.
"We need to talk Agent Hotchner- alone."
"I need to have a word with Miss Johnson first."
Cameron looked confused at how he seemed to ignore Strauss's request, something no one seemed to ever do.
"This is important, Agent Hotchner."
"As is this, Agent Strauss" he said coldly, Cameron tilted her head at him with confusion.
Erin paused and turned to Cameron, "would you mind coming back later?"
"O-of course, sorry" Cameron gave a small smile and went to leave despite Hotch's request for her to stay.
He caught her arm gently and turned to her before she left, leaning down and whispering in her ear.
"We will talk about your hand later Johnson- and I want the truth this time."
She paused, unable to think of what to say and confused at why his stern hushed tone was making her skin blush before she left the room, closing the door behind her and taking a breath as she walked back to her desk.
"Coffee?" Reid walked in and handed Cameron a mug of coffee.
"Oh- thank you, I just finished mine" she smiled and took a sip of it, ignoring his glance of concern at her cast.
"Come on losers, we've got a briefing to get to" Emily said as she walked in.
"Hotch is in a meeting" Rossi sat down.
"I know, I'm running this briefing" Emily gave a small smile, everyone paused.
"Does that mean..." Cameron smiled and prompted as Emily nodded.
