"Wait, wait, wait- so you're telling me that asshole isn't dead?" Morgan shook his head with rage.
"Language" JJ called down the phone that was on speaker in the conference room of the police station where the team were.
"The guy is a criminal and abuser- not to mention he tried to kill Emily, I think I can call him an asshole."
Reid nodded in agreement as Hotch continued to explain.
"They managed to bring him back in the ambulance and stabilise him. He spent weeks in hospital before being sent to a max security prison-"
"The guy escaped from a prison in North freaking Korea, I don't think the American prison system holds a candle to that" Morgan shook his head.
"No-" Hotch nodded, "-but the Russian one's do."
Cameron looked up from the file on Ian Doyle and his history with Emily with wide eyes.
"H-he wasn't sent to the Черный дельфин, was he?"
"The what?" Rossi asked.
"The Black Dolphin, and yes, he was" Hotch nodded, slightly concerned how Cameron knew of that place.
"Oh" she looked down, her voice almost in a whisper.
"Okay I'll bite- What's the 'Black Dolphin?" Morgan asked after a moment of silence.
"It's Russia's most brutal prison, one of the only prisons to not have an escape since its opening in the 1700's- it's escape proof" Reid nodded.
"Almost escape proof" Hotch heard Cameron mumble, he paused down at her before she seemed to cover up whatever emotion she was feeling.
"It only houses the worst of the worst- only 700 inmates of seriously bad guys" Reid recounted his usual level of factoids that the group usually ignored.
Hotch watched Cameron's face change again before she shook her head and drank some water to clear her throat.
"All the cells are single cells, barely enough room for a bed. There's three layers of various cells in-between each one to keep the prisoners in, which is needed considering it houses serial killers, cannibals, rapists and terrorists of the worst degree" Reid continued.
Hotch looked back over to Cameron and spotted her face scrunch slightly like she was forcing her words down as she balled up her hands under the table, stabbing her nails into her palms to stop herself from letting her emotions take over.
"The tactics they use to stop potential prison escapes are actually really interesting, they make them walk bent over and with blind folds on so they don't learn the prison layout- they don't even have a yard there. There's no cafeteria so most inmates go their entire lives in there without seeing another prisoner. It's brutal in there, it's actually been compared to soviet gulags" Reid nodded.
"I mean it is home to literal insane murderers who are pure evil so I'd hope it's pretty intense" Morgan nodded, not noticing Cameron's leg tapping under the table to try to stop her anger bubbling over of a situation they knew nothing about the reality of.
"Of course, the inmates are what makes it so scary. One of Russia's most dangerous serial killers actually did an interview from his cell, he was comparing it to concentration camps and saying the only taste of freedom is death, which is some kind of comfort since he and the other inmates are monsters-"
"That's enough!" Cameron couldn't take it anymore and suddenly stood up, the entire team looking over at her, only just now noticing the tears in her eyes.
