"So let me get this straight; we've figured out who the unsub is, we know they did it because the bones belonged to the nanny of their house, we know exactly who they are- but we can't arrest them?" Rossi quizzed with frustration as the team all sat around the conference room with coffees from the long night of work before when Garcia sent them the identity of the bones found and they spent the night expanding on Cameron's theory that seemed to pay off.

"Maximillian Jortin is not just the unsub; he's the son of one of the richest men in the country- we can't just go around arresting him without solid evidence that even his powerful lawyers couldn't defend" Hotch explained with a sigh as he tried to find any evidence they could use.

"So that means..." Emily prompted, knowing that the time was ticking down for them to find another plan than the one Hotch didn't want to do- Hotch was known for his hatred for undercover work.

He didn't like being out of control, not being able to plan every detail like he could with a raid or a profile. He hated having his agents out in the field without him there to help them, except this time he would have to be- the whole team would which worried him more.

Garcia would be the only one monitoring it, and the team would have to all go undercover at the fundraiser tonight since they didn't have enough time to figure out the common similarities of Max's victims since they all were different job roles, classes, relations to the events and appearances.

Hotch sighed and stood up, "you're identities and assignments for tonight's event will be secured and ready in an hour. Morgan, you will be on security since the only male victim was a low level security who might have questioned or searched Max and we need someone with a gun in there in case things go south. Reid, you will be with the waiting staff trying to upset Max since he has a disregard for industry workers. Rossi and I will be guests, high bidders; we'll have to present ourselves as 'friends' to Max, equals to see if that sparks jealousy in him. Emily, you will go as an ex-beauty pageant contestant entering the bid as a prize of the date- if he's following any sort of pattern then he might bid for a date at some point with you and we can go from there. Johnson-" he paused at Cameron who was writing something in a notebook in Russian.

"Johnson?" Hotch prompted her attention, she looked up and paused.

"S-sorry, I was listening" she apologised, he simply nodded and cleared his throat.

"You will be acting as general guest, mingling and talking to people- that is all."

"Wait- you just want Cam to talk to people? Should she talk to Max or anything? Try to rial him up-" Morgan asked since everyone else's assignments had been to try and get Max to target them so they could get evidence.

"No, we need someone to blend in and find out information on the event and family since we haven't had enough time to do so. Johnson is good at talking to people, she will not engage with Maximillian" Hotch spoke almost sternly at Morgan before looking back to the team, avoiding eye contact with Cameron who felt a quiet anger in her chest thinking that it was really because he didn't think she could handle doing what the rest of the team were doing.

Maybe he was right, but she had passed the exams now just like they had, just like he had, and yet she was still being treated like an after thought.

Not much longer, she pushed down her anger and finished her letter, ripping it out of her notebook and popping it in an envelope.

"You have a few hours to prep yourselves, get your outfits ready. It's a gala event so black tie appropriate unless you have a uniform you have to wear. We will meet back here to get wired up at 6pm before we leave- any questions?"
